Advice needed - which lens??

Hopefully someone can help me make a decision here. We have a Canon 350D with the standard kit lens (18-55mm) and a Sigma 70-300mm zoom lens.

Recently, the kit lens has developed a fault, and when you take a photo at the 18mm end, an error is displayed on the LCD.

We were going to buy a replacement as they are around the £50 mark, but then came across these 2 lenses:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000V9D5LG/?tag=clio197-21

Both are similarly priced, and fill the gap we were missing between the 55 & 70mm range.

I think we'll be going for one of these, I just can't decide which one! Canon jumps at me due to the brand and image stabiliser, but it may almost make our current Sigma lens redundant. There is an optical stabilsed version of the Sigma, but it's a little too expensive at the min, around £280.

Any thoughts?

Canon is definately the better one.

I say this because I have Sigmas, and their autofocus is poor in low light compared to Canon.

I'd go with Canon - think of looking at bhphotovideo or adorama (both.com and both in NY), it may well work out much cheaper buying from USA although dollar rate isn't too hot right now. Just a thought and maybe worth checking...

Thanks guys.

There are some good prices on those site stronza, cheers for that!

The only thing with the canon is we'll still be missing the 18 -55mm range, so that would mean buying another too...

I have the Sigma lense and find it really good. I use it the most - depends if you do a lot of low light photography

Not much low light stuff tbh, most of my photography is daylight stuff.

Think we might go for the sigma, really pleased with the zoom lens we have now so if it's anything like that it can't be too bad for the price
