200 gearbox

Just bought a 60 plate RS200 cup with 69k miles on the clock.

Guess what, it had a new gearbox a few weeks ago! Obviously my car has mostly done motorway miles, but that's still a cxxp quality box.

The car was out of warranty as the mileage was over 60k but Renault still contributed, the seller forked out for a new clutch too bless him!

Having owned a dsg Audi TT, I wouldn't want a similar box! Prefer a manual!

My courtesy car at the moment is a TTS with a DSG box and I have to say how boring and dull it is to drive. Straight line very quick. The gear box just destroys the driving experience

I have to drive over several speed bumps on the way to work and it was a pain, up and down the box all the time and you couldn't dip the clutch to stop the transmission backlash like on a manual.

Was good on a and b roads, but ended up leaving it in auto as the paddles were always in the wrong place when you turned the wheel!

Coming from ST/RS Fords, the gearbox on the 200 is terrible.......

Having said that i'd still prefer it to the 200T flappy paddle nonsense.
