200 car insurance

purchased a new clio 200 in march and in may im up for insurance renewal so with it being a month before I decided to recheck some quotes. I'd heard good things about adrian flux, and a few companies related to them.

For a starter Im 23, with one years no claims, married homeowner with the mrs on the policy (whos been driving for 9 years). Basically adrain flux wanted £1925 and the other few companies where quoting round the same mark. one company laughed down the phone when I told them the lowest quote that I got from gocompare

few weeks ago I did a search on gocompare and elephant came up the cheapest (£878) but my quote had expired! decided to ring elephant, long story short they didnt mind about the expired quote but I had forgot to put my LC20 in with the quote online, the 5 years is up in august elephant did a new quote price went upto £1025. I was pretty shocked explained that its only 3 months away why should it go up so much, the guy put me on hold and came back with the figure before

So basically £878 is pretty decent for a years insurance? So i recommend elephant if anyone is close to renewal.

I'm with elephant mate, and im in a similar situation. I'm 23 with 4yncb and no convictions and the GF is 20 with no convictions, we pay circa £1100 for ours which was the best we could get. I found that performance specialists could quote me cheaper but wouldn't have the GF due to her age.

Ive never had any luck with the comparison sites until i bought the 200. Flux wanted over £2k and admiral came up cheapest at £1100 with my 19/20yr old girlfriend on it!

It all depends on your circumstances mate. For me i spent an afternoon thinking of a list of all the insurers and then phoning around for quotes (using comparison websites is a waste of time FYI) to insure the 200 and found the following:

Greenlight - £672
Swiftcover - Wont Insure
Brentacre - £650.95 - £500 excess
Sky - £771 - £350 excess
DirectLine - £877.80
Admiral - £972
Aviva - £820
Adrian Flux - £753 - £150 excess
Santander - Wont insure
AxA - Wont insure
KwikFit - £1693.97
Privilege - £1009.05
AA - £1677.95
Chris Knott - Wont insure
MoreTh<n - £639.73 - £350 excess
Tesco - Wont insure
A Plan - £856 Aviva - £350 excess

Hope that helps give you an idea of which insurers are worth trying and which are a waste of time.

Thats what they quoted for me, untill I mentioned the GF. Ended up paying another £500 on top of that :thumb1::thumb1:

Forgot to add that the total excess was £500, was really happy elephant went through with the quote especially after I got laughed at down the phone with one company!

good luck with elephant
hope you never have to claim because they are a total waste of time
my son was insured through them 3yrs later they have given the case up of getting his money back after he was hit by a uninsured driver they never even told him that they had.you pay ya money but dont get the service

Mine £850 with Bell, when I was lookin in jan. Elephant and admiral were the cheapest at around £1100.

I can on my next renewal mate. Cant wait as the Mrs will be over 21 by then too so it opens up a whole range of new insurers for us. Your dead right about not crashing and paying excess + increased insurance. Unfortunately its the price we have to pay for owning a car we really want :worried:

This is the reason I hate uninsured drivers SO much!

I used to be with elephant but when I went to renew it a few years back, they went up to 780! Shopped around and admiral quoted me 600. Weird when elephant and bell are sister companies!
