197 k-tec cams review / alternative

my 197 is 5 years old (53k) now Renault say the cambelt isnt due yet so i am going to get it done next year, quoted £550 from a specialist including water pump
be interested in hearing from anyone who has the Ktec cams package or anyone with an alternative offering
how much better are these cars with cams? as far as i can tell, most other mods are a waste of time so thinking i will save my money and just get cams and remap or am i wasting my money?

Generally for the 72k service with cams you're looking at approximately £1700 and you'll get another 10-15bhp.

If you're patient with parts you can get a Meg engine with ancillaries and fitting upwards of £2500 (more likely £3k) and you'll get 250bhp minimum if you remap it, with potential for more power in the future.

Thing is I'm not taken on the turbo conversion, I have just come from a 320hp classic impreza and I am enjoying the clio being N/A, with the clio you need to commit to drive fast and I'm not sure if some of that would be lost.

200 real hp and some mid range pull would be perfect I reckon so maybe I will just decat and remap and see how well that does, sod 1700 for cams and belts
