197: Ignition switch loose/moving too much after flexi replacement..? wtf..

Today my 197 flexis were replaced. When i picked up car i noticed that ignition key barrell is loose. Check this video. I took steering column plastics off, but there is no bolts holding key barrell. (i first thought there must be some bolts which i turn tight.).. but no.

Key is working okay and i can drive car..

It has zero to do with the flexis, more to do with something someone did to the car while it was there...

or somethings just sheared that holds the barrel in place and it’s coincidence...

Yep, but the mechanic who fixed flexis said that he just drove car inside and out from garage.
Maybe it is just bad luck and it failed in the same day.
Today i will go for car locksmith and see if he can help me with this.

SOLVED:
Locksmith re-torqued that shear off bolt with punch and hammer.
Now it is fine. I will buy spare shear bolt just in case it needs replacement later.

It may well have been a little loose previously... I e lost count of the number of times a customer has blamed us in a garage setting for something just because some work had been done and they wanted to be more aware of anything that was different... you may not think you did but I assure you it does happen, we once did a cam sensor on a car and the exhaust fell off a few days later through rust halfway down the car and he came back and insisted we had broke it and we should now fix it :smirk:

Yeah, i know these things which you told.
I am sure that ignition lock was fine before. I dont believe that mechanic has to do anything with this.
And it is now fine, that is the most important thing.
That exhaust story sounds crazy. What is wrong with people

Is the car running good now the flexi's are fixed?

Hi
Yesterday i drove maybe 50kilometres and today 10km. No error lights, error codes or anything. In my opinion it works now fine. I dont know was the solution flexi replacemt or the old coilpacks which i changed back and valeo greentop coils are now in my storage table.
