197/200 official Ring time?

It's not about what car it is, it's who's driving them out there..

And the 200 is held high in opinion out there, just take the likes of the group 'five speed ring runners' that are out there. They're putting in some brilliant times. They know the track blindfolded.

I was thinking that under an 8 was pretty impressive...Not sure if that's a cup race car that's done it maybe? Or an error lol

That 7:48 will be bridge to gantry (even says BTG on it), the sub 8 of the Megane by Renaultsport is a full lap.

There's not much distance between the bridge and the gantry. You could easily cover it in 10 seconds (most likely half that) on a closed track day as its a flat out straight. Still makes for a mighty quick time in a Clio.

A proper lap is longer than that. It's right to the start line on the corner where the Nord meets the GP circuit.

Thes quite a difference between finishing at the Bridge, to going down to the official start line.

Wouldn't surprise me if they were quite 'slow' it's quite power reliant, long up hill sections in the Clio where you'd be in 5th gear gaining little to no speed due to the power/torque lacking a bit.

There was a vid of a stripped out 200 doing a lap a few weeks ago, it was far from slow. The speed carried into the bend and maintained was crazy.

Theyre not a heavy car that requires heavy braking or shifting weight around in the bends.

Ill look for the vid later and post it.

Think this has confused me even more if anything! haha :scared:

There are 2 lap time standards - full lap and BTG. Full lap is what the manufactures quote vs BTG which is the time you'll get if you rock up yourself and lap the ring on a normal open public day.

Depending on car, but as a rule of thumb there will be about 30secs +/-5 for average to fast cars.

A standard Clio 200 wouldn't be able to get sub 8min on a full lap, that BTG time of 7:48 +30~ seconds would mean about a 8:20 full lap, which would be roughly what one would do on a full lap.

There is a guy from Germany who did a 8 minutes dead BTG, and he also made a Clip where he goes flat threw Schwedenkreuz at 125+ mph, spec is fully stripped out, KW Clubsport Suspension, Dunlop Direzza 03G soft compound tyres, Akrapovic Evolution exhaust and Schrick cams.

That got my arse twitching.

Yeah this guy has mental pace round the ring, he is crazy, he also likes to slide the car at Breidscheidbridge and Hatzenbach, he has mighty car control.
