    197/200 subframe locating pins

Thanks Turkie, I’m going to reassemble with some bias applied, check alignment and then see what measurements I come up with. The bushes (once welded in from the top) were perfectly concentric on the underside of the subframe so I don’t think it has warped at all. I’m still perplexed where...

    Decatted midpipe- plug and play?

If you’re going uprated cams and would end up on a rolling road as a result the engine light would get switched off regardless - however, removing the pre-cat and installing a sports main cat would probably be the best option if you will still be subject to emissions checks though - obviously a...

    Column Power steering leak

It should be an EPAS system so I wouldn't expect to see any kind of fluid other than a bit of grease. Did it taste like peanut butter? I've not had the column out but I have done some work on it recently - disconnecting it from the rack and installing an EPAS adjuster to change the steering...

    Decatted midpipe- plug and play?

If the cat is removed and the oxygen sensor is disconnected it will throw a fault, You can get 'lambda foolers' which will screw into the port on a decat pipe and then the sensor screws into that, but never used one myself. Otherwise it's a remap or drive with the fault. Can I ask why you want...

    197/200 subframe locating pins

Bit of an update, I have supported the subframe, loosened all bolts that attach it to the chassis, removed the rear 2 bolts, dog bone removed, suspension all still connected and the rear right subframe bolt hole is indeed off centre (front of the car is to the left of the picture - this would...

    197/200 subframe locating pins

It’s both the front and rear - 6 in total, will see if I can shift it this evening

    197/200 subframe locating pins

Sounds like what I had originally thought, might just drop it down and force it as far back as possible and see what impact this has. These are the solid mounts (I went for the kit from wheeler motorsport, everything fitted as expected)

    197/200 subframe locating pins

That's what I had thought, however reading into it apparently it's an issue when removing the subframe and it needs aligning with some holes on the chassis rails - which would explain why alignment is off, but cannot find anything. There are holes on the subframe but can't spot any holes for it...

    197/200 subframe locating pins

Hi Guys, I recently had the front subframe off for a gearbox job, while it was out I also welded in some solid subframe mounts, since putting everything back together however my alignment is pretty whack, front right wheel seems to be further forward than the left, I have since read that there...

    Clutch recommendations

I don’t suppose you know the weight of the helix flywheel? I can’t find much info on it, other than it’s a standard 228mm size. The RSX 184mm kit looks pretty good but I’m not finding much in the way of reviews which makes me hesitant - obviously Helix is the more popular direction people go...

    Clutch recommendations

Hi all, I’m looking to change my clutch and flywheel (likely the diff while the box is out and probably renew 3&4 syncros) The car will exclusively be on track but likely won’t exceed 220bhp. I’m interested to learn what options people have gone for, what to consider and what to avoid…...

    Mike's racing blue 197

Locking\unlocking I’ve found is the battery, swapped to a PC680 and it went away… until that had drained a bit and it returned (as expected, it’s on axel stands so isn’t getting much charge), they seem to do some odd things when low on voltage - the steering lock will be next!

    Part identification

Exact same situation except my rear window will be replaced with polycarbonate so I’ve taken that wiring out too. I’ve got all the wires free from tape and clips, LHS has been sorted - I couldn’t ping the crimped connectors out of the connector block which was annoying, I had to cut each one...

    Part identification

I’m currently removing all disconnected wires from my car, I’ve found this thing in the rear right pillar and I’ve not a clue what it is, anyone know?

    Rear towing eye mounting location

Holy cow the rear bumper has been off for some time and I didn't actually realise there was no cut out available for a towing eye, what a great design - that's going to be fun. I've made a bracket to mount the tow cable to using the existing M20 thread for the original towing eye. It's not...

    Rear towing eye mounting location

I am currently fitting tow cables to my car - I'm not a fan of tow straps after one snapped on me some time ago which is why I've opted for cables. The front one was nice and easy, buzz off the thread that accepts the standard Renault tow bar and mount it there. The rear however has me...

    Mike's racing blue 197

For my first season in HH i'm not really expecting to be too competitive, the car needs quite a bit more work to even be at the top of class B, as a result tyre choice is somewhat steered by price (pardon the pun). The direzzas' and Advans are just that bit too much, which is why these ZTR's are...

    Mike's racing blue 197

I've not tried either - I've only been on track with crappy road tyres or AR1's which felt pretty good. I was looking to move to Toyo Proxes to compete but i've since changed my mind on the 750 clio cup and looking more at the hot hatch championship (I didn't rate the suspension you need to run...
