Drawn a blank on suspension rattle

I know this has been covered many times but I'm running out of options! Car rattles only when turning slightly right and over rough Tarmac usually at speeds under 30 mph.Ok left, straight ahead and full lock (both ways). A similar knock occurs when manoevering right and the revs drop to near...

    Air con re-gas

Got sent an offer from Groupon re re-gas at ATS. Voucher for £29.99 reduced from £50+ (I think) Anyway never having had a working air con in the Clio I thought I'd give it a go half expecting them to say leaks everywhere ,need a new compressor etc etc,so I was resigned to not having it working...

Tailgate rust bubble peeling - Warranty covered?

If you're happy to take a risk at having a smart repair done. (which I have done without any problems as yet ) then go for it especially as it is likely that I will be selling soon. I had a bad crease (forgot I didn't have reversing beepers !!) and to repair that and the tailgate came to £150...

Tailgate rust bubble peeling - Warranty covered?

Albi blue. It was a smart repair and he only touched an area about 3 inches along the lip so he managed to blend in the respray fairly easily but without any guarantee.

Tailgate rust bubble peeling - Warranty covered?

Long discussion with Renault who decided it had already been repaired (unofficially) so couldn't help. Had some other work carried out on bodywork and the guy said he would do the repair without removing the screen but obviously couldn't guarantee the work. The result looks good and even if it...

    Outside temperature sensor

I know its not essential but every temperature sensor I get (admittedly cheap eBay purchase) is inaccurate .(from 5 to 10c low). Is there any way to alter the signal sent to the display (perhaps something in line)? I know I'm being fussy but I would like it to be as accurate as possible . I...

    High level brake light

Thanks kept old ones and new ones came with the replacement. It is now fairly secure despite the distortion of the surrounding metal.I know that it won't fall out doesn't rattle and any water leak will not be a problem.

    High level brake light

As a matter of interest the aperture is drained onto the tailgate drainage surround so unless the wiring and/or washer grommets fail then there will be no leak.(I'm a bit neurotic over leaks ,having owned a Smart Roadster/City coupe both of which leaked in multitude of areas and which were never...

    High level brake light

Have replaced the unit with breaker one ,but on refitting I noticed that the metal surround is badly distorted in one place which means one of the spring clips won't seat properly. Whilst the whole unit stays in place ,I'm concerned whether any wet which will inevitably get in under the seal...

Flat spot disappeared now weather warmer!

Finally got the centre silencer reinstated (Powerflow £120 fitted). Can now hold a conversation at 70,definitely no flat spot ,even in cold conditions, much better throttle response in everyday driving -in other words the Clio that Renault designed with full exhaust system in the first place...

Flat spot disappeared now weather warmer!

Having bought my 197 in November ,this week is the first time it has encountered temperatures above 10C. Also the first time I've been able to thrash it. All of a sudden - no flat spot! (I have done the usual Map sealing -remapping etc) Is this because it's been properly warmed up and /or the...

    Tailgate badges

I've been advised by a body shop that the Clio and Renaultsport badges on the tailgate cannot be re attached after respray and some new ones will be needed. The Renault logo is ok. Is this correct?

    Power flow Exhausts

I've decided to go down the 'reinstate the middle silencer ' route which at the worse should quieten general driving noise and at best might improve the flat spot as well. Anyway £120 fabricated and fitted doesn't sound too bad!

    Power flow Exhausts

Have recently been trying to cost new cat back systems. Local Powerflow exhausts have quoted £400 fully fitted cat back stainless steel system including centre silencer. It's not a name I've heard anything of before so I wondered if anyone has any knowledge of the system ?

    Centre silencer

Have decided not to change the straight-through pipe - I have put sound insulation on boot floor /under the rear seats and (most importantly) on the underside of the parcel shelf which on its own has reduced the decibel level quite dramatically. Job done!

    Centre silencer

Whilst there are plenty of systems on sale on eBay I can't find individual items other than for 172/182.

    Centre silencer

Having finally got fed up with the noise from lack of middle box,I have tried to obtain one from many sources (not Renault yet!). Not one of the regular exhaust fitters has got back to me after repeated enquiries and some can't supply. Anyone know where to source one from -most specialists do...

    Unsolicited revving

Took it out today after warming up -no problem -I'll put it down to the cold weather/not warming engine up first. This drive by wire system is always throwing up problems -my low mileage Peugeot 2008 1.6 petrol, Smart Roadster being cases in point. It was a real treat to drive an old...
