    Black 197 Trackday Clio

Few more bits whilst I wait for the first Abingdon track day. I spotted, whilst underneath/cleaning out the wheel arches, silver label (non cup) shocks on the rear. The front's have orange label cup dampers on, but decided this was as good excuse as any to refresh. One delivery of new cup...

    Black 197 Trackday Clio

The lockdown brought the chance to give the car a bit of a tidy-up cosmetically - Front grill/nostrils resprayed satin black: Ditto wiper arms (along with ones off the other car): Rear wiper and aerial removed + plugged, then rear badges steamed-off (WIP): And finally -...

    Black 197 Trackday Clio

Removed condenser, drier and pipes then gutted the compressor/pump as per the guide on here Used the OMP + some universal Sparco sidemounts for the passenger side and that's all in there solid. For driver's side I bought the ones below as they offered more adjustment for my ideal position...

    Black 197 Trackday Clio

The annual update! I was able to keep her in the end, finding suitable storage whilst I moved house and sorted everything out. The current covid lockdown gives a perfect opportunity to get a load of little bits and pieces done I've been meaning to do for ages. Today's job was front off to strip...

    197 curtain airbag resistance

Does anyone know the resistance of the curtain airbags please? I’ve removed them and need to fit resistors in their place - airbag light on dash is on the light on and diagnostics points to them being open circuit. I’ve searched... Thanks

06 nimbus 197 daily track toy

Just read through your thread - nice to see someone checking their track cars properly between sessions! That crack's propagated from the bolts - a steel disc should be floating on an ally bell with bobbins (not a hard bolted interface) to prevent this.

    Black 197 Trackday Clio

Well, two years of ownership have flown by! A couple of updated pics: Unfortunately I'm going to have to sell her soon as a house move means I need to downsize the car count. It's currently without MOT/tax/etc as has only been used on-track the past couple of years. Is it worth getting...

    Quick Q - 197 Cambelt Kit

Thanks for the reply Micah. Doing the job myself - have the correct Renault tools - just wanting to make sure I get the correct (genuine!) kit of bits.

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

Yep fantastic work @tomislavp4 ! I just had a look for any empirical data on radiator pressure drop, there's plenty - but most use a porous media with a resistance curve to model more accurately. Any radius you can add to the leading edge of that 15mm thick splitter will increase suction there...

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

This is great stuff @tomislavp4 ! For visualising the flow in CFD you can use Total Pressure (or it's coefficient) - this gives an effective measure of energy in the flow and shows where it's used as it it travels over the car. And to get some measure of the flow that travels through the engine...

Deos anyone have underside pics lying around?

That's fantastic effort with the CAD model @tomislavp4 ! Be interested to see if there's any aero benefit for 'opening' the front wheel arch vents (that exit ahead of the doors) too. Cheers, Rob
