To stop people trying to pinch it 'as easily' when I go away. If I take the battery out, how do I go about locking all the doors and the boot?

On a car with normal locks I would remove the battery to disable the car and stop it being able to be driven away, but with having the keyless entry on a 197 what is the best way to get the same effect? How easy is it to get the cable off the starter motor? (where is the starter motor?)

Just get it nice and hot, remember the exhaust gets very hot when the car is being driven. I applied a bit of heat to mine and it came out really easily, I was actually surprised!!

I could understand taking a harness off to reverse, but a normal seat belt isn't that restrictive to need to take it off?? The belt comes very far out, I can lean where ever I need to in the car with the belt still on

Yeah, any static can cause it. It might only happen 1 time out of 1000 but for taking about 30secs to disconnect the battery it is worth it.
