Anyone had a dephaser replaced on the 197

Dephaser pulleys; (Dan@519 will support this) They won't just fail but a word to the wise - you need to be extra careful with the current generation VVC system/dephaser pulley as it's not as simple to diagnose as the older X65 system/pulley units were (8200782671). Typically a "Knock" or...

Engine Bay Rattle Noise - Help Needed

Tricky one that as the sound isn't great (Maybe this end at fault there). Assuming all engine mounts are intact and bolted down correctly whip the aux belt off and briefly try it again... Noise gone = something on aux belt run (A/C Compressor, Alternator or DCP), noise still there = something...

Bugger! need to do water pump again

From what I've read and seen Ren7Oaks are known for using autofactor/white box parts. I wouldn't trust the bearings in those things on my daughters stabilisers! Go see Dan

    Diamond motors - recent experience.

Oh, hai everyone [waves] When some of you say you need "electrical" work done what exactly do you need doing? It's worth noting that I'm not a tuner or an engine builder as I practice the dark art that is automotive electrics and networking. Battery re-locations aren't difficult and not really...

crank pulley change on cambelt replacement

The TB does indeed say it needs changing... Renault repair manuals have been saying that since they started fitting the dampened pulleys back in '03 on the vvc'd K4M's and the '225 is the same. Mick

diagnose clio 200 engine knocking (video)

Hard to say from a video clip but it could also be a dephaser/camshaft offset sensor issue as they are common for them and as these units are in a constant state of vvc they do make top end rattles with revs. Personally I wouldn't bin the lump just yet but I would get it properly looked at...

    Brake pins

Best things ever these! I've fitted a couple of sets for customers on Clios and Meganes and they're worth the cash. Mick

    197/200 Cambelt Differences...

Yep, I understand fully the point you are making Ben and I agree which is why timing belt services are not black and white... More like one massive grey area. The newer generation F4R is a far better design over the previous found in vehicles from 03-05 but I still wouldn't trust the newer units...

    197/200 Cambelt Differences...

Too right Danny it's just not worth the risk. I see a lot of Lagunas and I still get strange looks from owners when I tell them to ignore the 18k service clock intervals and half it in order to save their turbos. Some understand it but most go by the clock because Renault have never made a...

    197/200 Cambelt Differences...

Belt driven ABS? Granted Ben but i assure you, there is no difference between the timing belt runs on the 197 & 200 as Renaults of new are all very modular to keep costs down... The ancillary platforms deployed are shared across the ranges now. The Clio III RS uses the same run as the Megane RS...

It doesn't run a PAS pump, it's EPAS

    197/200 Cambelt Differences...

Same timing belt kit, same water pump, same engine. Renault playing silly games to attract fleet managers I guess. Alfa did this with the 147/156 and had tensioners fail at 35k so they soon back tracked on there claims of 5yrs/72k. Timing belt intervals aren't black and white unfortunatly and...

    Megane 225 alloy advice

I've also got a set of Trophy/R26 rims that I purchased to go on my Laguna GT-T but they really don't suit it. Currently got them flatted down in prep for new undercoat and paint so name your colour and £280 will buy em. I've also got some rubber for them but they're cheap and have 4mm left...

    Barclays PingIt

We use it to take payments at Diamond Motors... Very simple to use once setup. Not the quickest sign-up process though if you dont bank with Barclays as they need to confirm your bank account by doing the old deposit 1p thing like PayPal but then they confirm your home address by posting you a...

    197: Dealer or no Dealer

A 5yr warranty you say? On parts AND labour? I'd snatch there hands off after yo've got that in writting as Renault UK's parts warranty is only for 12 months. I'm not a trader so can't advertise my company (yet) but I do the Clio III F4R for £380 with water pump, aux kit, seals, Type-D...

    197 service

Thanks Steve, I've been meaning to get myself on here and setup as a trader for a while now... can someone point me in the direction of the person to speak to about this as I don't know anyone on here and I don't want to get my pants pulled down. Will - I do a lot of work for various clubs...
