Oil catch can, whos fitted one?

Builds a race car with a sequential box(?).....uses milk bottle and zip ties for breather tank :tearsofjoy: You're right you don't need 'fancy', but then there's just plain ghetto too! lol

Oil catch can, whos fitted one?

Get 1ltr as a minimum tbh. Assuming you're not racing, as some regs I've seen call for a 2ltr minimum if not running back to the inlet manifold. Mocal makes life easy with it's breathable lid, plus a few different anodised colours never hurts ;) Although I'm quite the fan of Radium stuff now...

Are these clio cup racer alloys?

iirc is Cup Racer Speedlines have both 8J and 7.5J markings on them, whereas the road Speedlines only have 7.5J. But it seems like you have the alloys to hand? Just a thought but why not just measure them and then you'll know for certain! :) I believe the correct point is the inside of each lip.

Oil catch can, whos fitted one?

yeah I suppose as the port on the plenum is pre TB it will always experience vacuum on the PCV pulling the vapours, I would assume the widget on the side is some sort of restrictor valve mind as it would seem like a substantial amount of pull otherwise? I also remember Ashford told me that on...

Oil catch can, whos fitted one?

You don't have to route back to the inlet manifold (well to stay road legal you might have to) as it is preferable not to really. I run a catch tank without routing back to the inlet, as the oil vapours do nothing but dilute the charge and cause more knock sensitivity. Not such a problem if...

Just simply engine rebuild torque settings

I have grabbed these out the R3 Maxi engine build manual, should be everything you need including which Loctite grades to use.

    Trackspec Clio 197

I would tend to agree also, looks great on those wheels.

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

I think that's the thing isn't it, new set of rules to drive by with rwd and be a lot of fun in pushing those new boundaries etc. I'll be there one day for sure, but yeah will be a 3rd car so not for the foreseeable. I'm more excited by the Clio than I think I have been the whole time I've owned...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Cheers guys and yeah it needed to be NA really didn't it :smilingimp: I don't think I'd have been happy with a Meg swapped car, not long term anyway. Although having now had the Mini 6 months I do quite like a bit of boost! I see you've gone rwd Tom, be interesting to see how it stacks up...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Nope that will be done after it's stay at Pro-Line and everything is buttoned up. The plan will be to go to Steve Greenald at Track n Road where my ITB Rallye was done many moons ago!

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Thanks fellas, though I should say I can't take credit for any spanner'ing here, unless that includes rolling the car out the garage bi-monthly, taking a deep inhalation whilst shaking my head, and then pushing it back in :tearsofjoy: Nick at Pure did the ITB and Rad fitting as it is the first...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Christ I can't believe it's been so long (again!) but progress is definitely being made now. The wait has been for the ITB kit and it's been a long time, but it was worth it I'm pleased to say. Couple of long days and over 600 miles taking the car on the back of a recovery truck which is fast...

225 throttle body on 250 inlet help

@M77MWw I saw your post about the DBW unit not working, so I double checked the wiring diags I have. The Megane II 'sport' TB should be the diag below. - I had to get some later software for this as the copy I had lists an F4R...but digging in to it and it's for the F4R-771 - which is some...

225 throttle body on 250 inlet help

Easy enough, just need to move the corresponding pins. DBW throttles will almost always have motor control +ve and -ve , and 2 TPS sensors, sharing a +Ve and -Ve and then separate wipers (signal wires) - That's your 6 pins. Can see pin 1 & 2 are thicker so they will be your motor control, the...

    Updated exhaust rubbers

:) just made me chuckle and I'm bored! You know actually you could probably get that sort of thing done with hydro-dipping.....just saying :tearsofjoy:

    197 oil consumption

You've used 2L in 1500KM (~1000miles), that is very high. I had consumption similar to that once.....had a hole in the top of a piston! If it's not leaking, then it is being consumed - either bottom end (piston rings) or top end (valve stem seals). I would say at those levels you're probably...

    Trackspec Clio 197

I'm opting (this weeks plan anyway) to run a MK4 R3T pump and sender unit from Rsport, I'll need to measure the resistance on the level arm and swap to the MK3 if required. But I've got pics of both and the top and lower half are fully interchangeable so everything should drop in place with no...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

I'm good for ITB's thanks, well will be soon enough (I bloody hope!!) - I want the Jenvey stuff with cnc manifold for a couple of reasons though, 1 the tract length and shape has been carefully optimised on these engines from years of mk2 development. And 2, I can put them another engine with a...
