Productive day today. CV joints re-packed with grease and driveshafts fitted, gearbox filled with fresh oil and a spanner check done, no real issues other than the O/S driveshaft being an absolute cu... pain in the bottom. Next up was fitting the coolant hoses, modified rad support and radiator...

So I was pretty knackered when I wrote that post last night.. Jobs left to do (More for my benefit so I don't forget to do something); Finish rebuilding the driveshafts and refit them. Gearbox oil. Drop the front struts off and change the springs to the softer ones I've bought. Finish cutting...

This weekend in pictures. Took 3 cranks to catch as it needed to build up fuel pressure. Need to do a few bits still but the majority is done now. Mega relieved for the engine to sound healthy, it's a little tappy but it's been sat with no oil in it for 4/5 months, injectors are a bit noisy...

CLIO 197 CUP - Project TF

Come to Snet with us on the 26th. There's me, Gav & Ethan, my mate Wes in his 200 and possibly another mate of mine in his NC MX5 based Exocet.

Couple of early starts this weekend. Yesterday I went and picked up an engine crane and engine stand from a mate of mine. This morning I headed out to Derbyshire to collect an engine. The trusty Mondeo putting in the work as usual. I managed to get my hands on this 104k mile engine out of a...

Exactly. No need to drain the fluids when I leave them on track!

Tell me something I don't know :tearsofjoy: New engine is being picked up on Sunday but it's getting some nice things thrown at it. If I get time to swap it I will. If I don't then it's getting sent.

The Clio seems unwilling to go away. Just to make sure I wasn't being paranoid I took the 197 out for a blast down a private road in Mexico on Saturday, when I got home it sounded healthy again, no more clattering. So in keeping with my usual thought process, I've booked a trackday...

    Glacier White 200 Cup

Be careful with changing your spring rates, I went from 8kg to 10kg I think and I found the front end isn't as compliant as it used to be. I forget what I actually changed but it was detrimental to the handling of the car. I probably should have gone stiffer on the rear and left the front alone.

He has it on eBay and it's in my watch list. Nothing will happen until payday anyway unless he'll take £500 for it :tearsofjoy:

Snetterton never happened for the 197... It's older softer brother (the 172) took its place. Today is a sad day... RIP Clio. The engine is clattering away. The future remains uncertain but the present is that it may go off to my in laws farm for storage until I can source an engine. There's...

Where does it end? 2003 Clio 172

With the 197 throwing a tantrum, the shedtastic 172 was pulled in for track duties at Snetterton on Tuesday. Oh boy... The Accelera Phi-R budget tyres held on surprisingly well. The brakes were very upset about the whole situation though, starting the day with boiled fluid, then having to...

Where does it end? 2003 Clio 172

After a week or so of not driving the car, I had to get the car back on the road as I miss flinging it around, so I ordered a set of Eibach Sportline springs to replace the broken one. Once I'd stripped the strut down I watched as the chrome rod dropped from full extension to fully compressed by...

Where does it end? 2003 Clio 172

Spent a few hours on the blue turd last night and this morning and found exactly what I'd expected. Lots of shite. As you can see the NSR caliper hasn't actually ben doing anything. I'm pretty certain this car had a Bluetooth MOT... New caliper, disc and pad fitted, it finally had something...

    Glacier White 200 Cup

When my MRFs turned to plastic I found they just wouldn't warm up properly and felt awful. Which is why they're stacked in the garden waiting for someone to collect for drift tyres :tearsofjoy: However, something like 15 track days will do that to a set of rubber...

Where does it end? 2003 Clio 172

Done very little with the blue turd lately. Other than replacing an upper gearbox and upper engine mount, I've just been daily driving it and enjoying it. Wes was bugging me tonight to go for a blast, partly because he got the Golf back on the road but mainly so he could drive the little 172...

Forgot the car was black if I'm honest... It's been so gross and dirty the past few months I was wondering if it was actually a shade of brown! PMS aircon pulley works a treat, easy enough to fit too. Longevity remains to be seen! Hoping to be doing Snetterton next month depending on work...
