Deos anyone have underside pics lying around?

Thank you! I'll be able to model something together from this. Nice to see how much effort they put into smoothening the underside.

Deos anyone have underside pics lying around?

Can do some CFD on that as well if you'd like...:tearsofjoy: What I'll be looking into is: Spoilers (Cup vs K-tech) Ride height and rake effects Splitters (I might end up fabricating a splitter myself eventually, dislike everything on offer)

Deos anyone have underside pics lying around?

Hi guys. I've gotten the cold and needed something to do with myself so I don't get bored to death sitting at home. I decided to make a CAD model of the 197 so I can CFD-test a few aero ideas I have. The body of the car is easy to find pictures of and I was able to model it decently as you can...

Thank you. What? That's not how it's spelled? Should be :tearsofjoy:

Right. Got the car on a lift, drained the coolant and filled up with new one. Also found my wrench. So that's all good. I also replaced the quater panel rubber seal on the drivers side with a new one and fitted a new headunit. Pretty happy with it except for one - the shuffle function is...

    Which head unit?

Keep in mind that in the first picture it lacks the rim that goes around it. That's why it looks strange. The second one is how it should look but yeah, it won't be flush with the surrounding panel in the Clio like the OEM unit is but neither will the Clarion. Agreed about the control wheel as...

    Which head unit?

It seems as Pioneer makes the only acceptable ones. I'm deciding between http://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/deh-3200ub and http://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/deh-x8700bt They are both around 150 euros. BTW, have you seen Sonys headunits these days? Yuck!

    Which head unit?

Yeah. I'm also looking for a headunit for my car and can't find anything acceptable. They all look like christmas trees. Out of those two, I'd go with the Clarion. The other one screams budget and low quality materials.

Well, no. I need to drive about 2 km so that I can get the car on a lift. I don't have stands at home so I can't do this stuff here.

Replaced the thermostat today. The temp rises faster and sits between 85-90 degrees C. Did a couple of stupid things while doing it though. I had trouble getting to the lower screw on the thermostat housing and managed to drop the wrench in the engine bay. Have no clue where it went cause I...

Equal spring rates front to rear, why?

Ah, ok. That makes sense. I think. Thanks!

Equal spring rates front to rear, why?

Ok, so what you're saying is that stock suspension deals with the understeer/oversteer balance mainly by spring stiffness while coilovers do it by damping stiffness. That is valid for the transitional parts of the corner but not for the steady state part because dampers only affect the rate of...

    ZOE 435 BHP

I like the styling of the regular Zoe but this is on a whole different level. It looks mean as hell! If only the 4th gen Clio was closer to the Zoe styling wise... So 324 kW power and the pack has 40 kWh. 40/324 is 0,123 hours or 7,5 minutes on full power... should be enough for a couple of...

    Tomislav's Ultra Red 197

Thank you sir! Kinda knew what I was getting into already so... It's not that big of a problem really, I was able to see what speed I was driving at anyway, street lightning helps. So as long as it doesn't happen so often that it becomes annoying, I'm a happy camper!

    New Mazda MX5 RF

I was actually planning of driving my old car a bit longer and saving some money for one of these. But then it hit me that I can have a car with 40 extra hp and rear seats for a third of the price these go for. They do look great however, much better then the last gen.

The brand of the thermostat is Mahle. I'll be extra careful when installing it because it's my first time but like you said, it's not a too complicated of a job so I should do fine. If I do need to replace the instrument cluster, it will mess up the mileage counter right? As in, it will go to...

    Tomislav's Ultra Red 197

The new thermostat arrived today so I'll be replacing the old one this weekend or maybe next one. In the meantime I did get another little problem, the illumination on the speedo and rev-counter is not working. Any ideas? Most likely a fuse has gone, right?

Equal spring rates front to rear, why?

Can someone explain to me the logic behind having the same spring rates front and rear? The stock suspensions have higher spring rate at the rear and so do the lowering springs we can buy. This makes sense because FWD cars understeer and having a stiffer rear counteracts that understeer. So why...

    Tomislav's Ultra Red 197

Right, so I got the OBD module today and tracked the coolant temp. It never gets above 72 degrees C, so a good deal under the 90 it should get to. Time to order a thermostat.
