    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

We're in the same boat, mate. I dislike the cup splitter (if you can call it that) as well. What I'd like to have on the Clio is something similar to the picture below. Simple and effective. Also relatively easy to fabricate with the right tools.

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

Ah, ok. Realizable k-epsilon is what I use in fluent, with Non-equilibrium wall functions. Hour or two? That's fast! What type of mesh and what size are you running? Open foam is up there with the best CFD software available from what I've heard so it should give accurate results if set up right.

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

@petercronin @Dmonk197 there's conflicting information about that. I've read both 40 kg and 70 kg for the df produced by the diffuser but the speed was not mentioned. Do you have a link? As this most likely is the df that the diffuser produces it should be subtracted from the lift that the rest...

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

@Zuban same here really. I'm a B.Sc mechanical engineering - product development. I have taken a few simulation courses at uni but they all focused on structural stuff, not airflow, so I read a bunch of studies, presentations and user manuals to gain basic knowledge on aerodynamics because it's...

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

The sprint spoiler is the one K-tech sells, right? That one is coming shortly. As for side skrits and other stuff, I am open to suggestions on what to run. After the sprint spoiler I'll do the Maxton kit http://www.maxtondesign.co.uk/product/clio-iii/set-of-splitters-renault-clio-iii-rs.html and...

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

So @suj already answered the questions and his answers are spot on but I'll try to give more info. The engine bay is sealed two reasons: a) it drastically reduces the computing power needed to solve the problem and b) it doesn't involve me modeling every detail in the engine bay. a) These...

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

Thank you man! I've seen that you've been playing with CFD as well. Maybe you can share your results so we can compare them to mine?

    197 Aerodynamics (CFD analysis)

Hi guys. I'm running some CFD simulations on a model of a 197 in my spare time and wanted to open a thread so I can share the results with you. The goal is to see what aftermarket parts work and how well they work. Later on I will test out some custom stuff (wings, splitters etc.) as well. Now...

    RS Megane MK4

Ah, ok then. I thought that there are small holes behind the vents that lead to the engine bay.

    RS Megane MK4

Oh man, love what they did with the bodywork  I'm glad that it doesn't look like some bolted on wide body kit like what is on the current RS Megane but is integrated into the flow of the bodywork, like on the mk 3 Clio RS. Can't wait for the full reveal. They are there to vent the...

    Tomislav's Ultra Red 197

So I had my first trackday yesterday and had a blast! Can't wait to do more :grinning: The Clio did well, didn't have any issues apart from it needing oil about half-way through the day. Luckily I had bought 1 liter the day before so no problem there. As expected, there were some not-so-good...

    Help needed choosing lowering springs.

@///M Great! They seem not to be out yet as they're not listed anywhere, not even on the Bilstein website. I'm guessing they are one-way adjustable, rebound only? I'll be looking into getting coilovers next year and having more options is always good.

    Help needed choosing lowering springs.

There's a damping adjustable B14 kit for Clios? Where? The only B14 I can find is height adjustable only.

    Tomislav's Ultra Red 197

Germany sounds nice. I've heard they have a nice track in the forest somewhere... But then we'll be trading snow for rain! That won't do :grinning:

    Tomislav's Ultra Red 197

We should move to somewhere warmer, Antti! You in?

    Tomislav's Ultra Red 197

It might. The forecast says cloudy with a chance of rain and temps between 0-4 degrees C. In any case, far from optimal. It was over 15 degrees C a week ago!

    Tomislav's Ultra Red 197

So I have a trackday booked for next friday and of course this happens. Guess we'll be driving snow sleds

Clio 197 Ultra Red 2007 from Finland. April, time to start driving.

Looking good! Changed tires on mine yesterday and the difference is night and day. The noise is much lower on highway speeds and the ride comfort is improved. There is also more grip now so it doesn't understeer like a dog on roundabouts! Sometimes I wish I lived in a warmer climate.

Hi. I saw a thread, http://www.clio197.net/threads/clio-197-200-cup-wing-info.52159/, where you posted some CFD pictures of a 197. Did you finish the model and get some figures for drag and lift? I will be doing some CFD of my own and thought that it would be good to see how close our results...

Deos anyone have underside pics lying around?

Thank you! There may be some downforce to be gained by doing that actually. Will be happy to test it out.
