Track car thats a bit unusual (Updated pics) 56k BEWARE!!!!

Very nice, Ka is a brilliant little tool so long as the rot stays away. I would love to but an ITB'd 1.6 Zetec-SE in one, but I guess the Zetec-E is that much cheaper. Is it a 2.0? You familiar with Jamie Rigby's Zetec engined XR2? He gets great power out of that.

    Recaro Help

It is probably related to the release lever associated with the tilt mechanism. When the seat tips forward the runner lock is released to allow the seat to slide forward to further improve access to the rear. I suspect this release mechanism has stuck open. Get a torch and have a good poke...

    197 front coil spring

You could just fit the fronts and possibly do the rears later. At least then you have four new springs.

    gearchange

Could be the 'box, could be the clutch slave. Mine was much better after replacing the 'box, clutch and slave. Fine in day to day use, but really annoying on track.

    Offside Upper Ball Joint

I should have said hub carrier rather than knuckle Top ball joint is in the inner hub carrier Middle ball joint is in the outer hub carrier Lower ball joint is on the lower arm. The inner and outer hub carriers RRP at around £195 each. On mine we had to replace another part that the middle...

    197 front coil spring

Cheapest option is probably to get a set of Eibachs or H&R's rather than buying OE individually.

    Offside Upper Ball Joint

There are three ball joints on either side, top and bottom of the knuckle and a third on the lower arm. The most common failure is the lower one on the knuckle; I don't think the ball joint is replaceable separately, we had to replace the outer knuckle, and the part that fixes onto it due to a...

    197: Buyers Guide

There are a few things I need to edit in, along with a little bit of formatting, bold headings, etc. I will leave it a week for any suggestions and will edit slightly when I have an opportunity. Among the additions; Annual brake service and grease pins Gaz's comments above Fuel economy Review...

how far do our engines go..?

Mine had done 95k when I sold it last month. Sure I had some issues (ball joint, steering arms, manifold) but these seem fairly common on the earlier cars regardless of mileage. Given my experience I would buy on age and condition rather than mileage.
