    Begening to hate my 197

Several of your issues seem like they could be related to the timing belt. Perhaps the supplying Peugeot dealer cocked it up?

    Ball Joints, how much?

Brace yourself, three ball joints each side, two are part of the hub carriers (inner and outer) the other is part of the lower arm.

    Cabasse audio system speakers

You can leave it in if you want to, but it won't be doing anything. When you connect an aftermarket stereo you completely disconnect the part under the seat.

    For sale rules

Then clearly I am lazy. I always include photos but don't see why I should have to faff around adding my name and date to them. If I wanted to screw someone I could just add my info to a generic photo anyway so I don't really see the point.

    For sale rules

If you aren't careful Matt you just make it bloody awkward to sell things. Touch wood there isn't a problem with rogue sellers in this site, we have a feeback system in place, why complicate matters further?

    To Upgrade or Simply Replace

Really not necessary, the rears don't do that much work and are unlikely to get hot enough for noticeable fade. What is the purpose of your proposed upgrade? Aesthetics, track use? If you are really concerned then go for DS2500 or a similar pad to match your uprated front pads, but there is no...

    To Upgrade or Simply Replace

Brakes are one area where manufacturer branded parts tend to be expensive; the discs will be made by a tier one brake component manufacturer, typically Brembo for the fronts, not sure on the rears, but probably Brembo, Ferodo, etc. With the pads being something similar. So long as you get parts...

    Water build up?

Sorry, to clarify it is the rearmost front wheel arch liner. The front liner is in two pieces, you need to remove the rearmost one.

    Water build up?

In the scuttle panel? There are rubber drainage pipes at each side that are prone to getting clogged, when I cleaned mine I did it from underneath, wheel off, rear wheel arch liner out, then poked up with a screwdriver. I had previously tried getting it from above but without any success.

    Rim knocking control arm

Only cup differences on 197 are springs and dampers. Steering gear is the same

Back from the brink...NOW RUN INTO ISSUES!!!

Do it. The 197 is great but uses too many bespoke parts; the 1*2's, and the ST have largely standard suspension parts other than springs, dampers and ARB's, making them cheaper to maintain. The 197/200 has bespoke and sophisticated aluminium components, totally different to the standard car...

    Word of Caution

I would reiterate my findings with the X85 Cup ARB, a fine mod if you have already stiffened up the rear end, but in isolation bloody awful.

    4th gear crunch

Don't "phew" yet, your symptoms are very similar to mine and changing the 'box oil made no difference. No dwarf in mine either.
