I haven't heard of any actually failing, just becoming less pleasant to use.
With mine it was downchanging into third, where if you changed gently it was fine but if you tried to rush it, it didn't like it and would seem to "catch".
Your issue could be a failed slave, might be worth taking it...
You can get some ball joints separately from R-Sport in Wimbledon, however be sure that whoever is going to do the work is happy with it, and of course that you are getting the right ball joint. I seem to recall that one of them is available separately but another isn't.
Be aware that if it is...
Pics reinstated, if anyones interested!
I think I quite miss this car, but wouldn't want to park it where I have been parking the Focus, and it wasn't special enough to be a garage queen.
Sounds like the sensible answer is keep it black and see how you feel about it. Don't sell the spoiler though as if you don't repair the tailgate you may wish to refit when you sell.
I would say that previous owners have said "This car is a dog" probably speaks more than the number of owners.
Nice idea that any probs will have been sorted under warranty, but I bet they haven't. If they weren't sorted at the time the car left the Ren press fleet then they probably haven't...
I had a PTFE gasket on mine and according to my scan gauge it didn't make a noticeable difference. Because the plenum is sited directly above the engine it will inevitably get hot.
If the ECU thinks the system is low on charge it will disconnect the compressor. A regas won't solve it, it needs a Renault Clip system to reset the ECU.
Best bet is phone around Renault dealers and see who charges the least to diagnose the issue.
It is v. easy, only tricky bit is wiring the aux into some RCA's, or in a 200 possibly into the wiring going to the aux in socket.
You may need to switch around the perm and ign switched power.
Get the part from Karl, or your local Renault dealer. One ball joint is in the inner hub carrier, the other in the outer hub carrier.
No point in doing both sides unless necessary, they cost a fortune.

I was on track in an 02 plate 172 last week, really impressive little car, aside from the AWFUL Nankangs on it. With better tyres, ideally R888's, it would probably have been as good as my 197.
I used a Parrot Mki9200 with an appropriate Brodit active cradle, I don't use the Parrot to charge as it isn't a fast charger, but instead stream using bluetooth. It is also an excellent handsfree.
