You dont have to lock timing when removing vanos. I have done 4-5 vanos services, it is very easy to do. Just remove valve cover and then vanos unit. There has always been really big difference after vanos seal replacement in low/midrange torque.

Great job If you want best performance from vanos i recommend that you rebuild it with new beisan o rings.

Btw. are you losing oil with that engine? Maybe good idea to install new set of piston rings. M54 oil control rings are so sad story, most of engines use oil. And when you drive hard you lose even more.

I took side sills off from E46, it is 10 min job / side. Really easy. Unfortunately clio 197 is much more difficult and some fixings are under renault sport stickers (130£/each) to replace...

How much was the price including delivery ?

I am just wondering if there is common place for rust to hide? Recently i took side sills off from one car and result is sandblasting and welding. I dont know how good or bad design is in clio 197 and is there possibility that there is sand and dirt in hide causing corrosion. Any opinions?
