Difference of these ?? 543025293R / 8200926467 (front Cup dampers)

Before you fitted them, did you have non-cup shocks? If so, was it a worthwhile upgrade?

Upgrade from standard seats to Recaros

Hi all, I'm swapping my old standard seats to blue dot Recaros. I understand they're a straight swap, fitment-wise, but will the plugs underneath be the same and what exactly will I need to code out with CLiP? Thanks in advance :)

    OEM vs YellowStuff pads

I'm going to bleed them on the weekend, as I'll be driving this car from Guernsey (Channel Islands) to Nottingham. That way, the old fluid gets flushed out and replaced with new one as well. When you say "bled through properly", what exactly do you mean? Just wondering if I've missed...

    OEM vs YellowStuff pads

Out of curiosity, why are YellowStuff pads so bad that I should stay away from them? - Not trying to be snarky, just a genuine question As for the DS1.11...they're sadly not within my budget. They're roughly 2.5 times more expensive than YellowStuff, which is quite a bit. I mean...are they...

    OEM vs YellowStuff pads

Thanks for your input, really appreciated! See...I can absolutely bottom out my brake pedal without too much force and I'm just a regular dude, not a body builder with huge legs. I've bled the brakes several times before in this car and even attempted to bleed the ABS pump with my CLiP, but...

    OEM vs YellowStuff pads

Hi All, My front pads are due and the rear pads are following closely behind. I fitted them about the same time 3 years ago and they're just standard Brembo pads in the front and TRW at the rear. They served me well given the amount of miles I've done, but I was never impressed with the...

    Engine rebuild due - DIY?

It’s low on power, more than likely as a result of the compression loss. There’s also a bad engine shudder, which I suspect is related to a bad clutch and/or flywheel. I’ve got quite a bit of work to do on the suspension as well. Don’t want to be doing all this work only to be let down by the...

    Engine rebuild due - DIY?

So, my engine will soon be due a rebuild due to low compression. Dry VS wet compression test indicate piston ring wear and compression figures are a consistent 120-125 while dry across all 4 pistons. I was wondering how much of a ball ache it would be to do a DIY rebuild, although I'm not yet...

    Airbag light

Hi All, My Clio 197 has developed an intermittent airbag fault light. I already fiddled with both front seat plugs, which you can see if you remove the plastic panel on the lower outer part of each seat and it made no difference. I plugged in my CAN Clip reader and it gave me a fault: DF072 -...

    Low compression?

Thanks for the input! Read my reply above this one for an update. Honestly, the car never felt that punchy, so I suspect it's definitely lost a few horses and would have already been like this when I bought it. I serviced my car twice a year in my ownership, so I can say I probably didn't...

    Low compression?

So, just re-ran the test and the results are in (not good). With the throttle wide open, I ran a dry test first and all 4 cylinders measured a very consistent 125-130 PSI - 1 point for consistency... I then poured oil into cylinders 2 and 4, as the others had debris on the spark plug seats, so...

    Low compression?

I actually haven't, no! Didn't even think about that, to be honest. Since it's an electronic throttle body, does it really open while the car is cranking (with the foot down on the accelerator), or do I need to hold it open with my hand? I imagine it will make a difference in the readings, but...

    Low compression?

Hi all, After trying to get to the bottom of a lumpy idle, I decided to buy a tester and do a compression test on all cylinders. The car was warm when I tested it and the results were consistently low, with cylinders 4, 2 and 1 reading between 110-120 PSI. Cylinder 3 reading was about 130 PSI...

    197: Vacuum leak - Help

Update: I replaced it yesterday, which was a ballache of a job and sadly it made no difference whatsoever... Car always had shocking MPG, though, so maybe that'll improve things slightly...

    One-touch windows not working

Will do, it's just I can't at the moment, as I'm still waiting for the speaker adapters to arrive, as I soldered the ones from the old speakers on, so a bit more work than a straight swap. It was purely to see if anyone had any input. At the moment, my driver's window has been working reliably...

    One-touch windows not working

Hi all, I have a bizarre issue where the windows on my 197 only open/close a bit at a time even if I hold the button. I've had this before once or twice and can reset it by closing the windows and holding the button for 10(?) seconds. This time, however, the issue is intermittent and resetting...

    197: Vacuum leak - Help

I plugged in an OBD reader and the voltages on both sensors check out, so I’m afraid it’s not that. The fact is, there is obviously a vacuum leak, as the brake booster doesn’t hold vacuum after a while, and a vacuum leak could cause a rough/lumpy idle. It’s my main candidate, at the moment.

    197: Vacuum leak - Help

Hi all, I recently made a post about my 197 having a rough idle. Stupidly, I never though about a vacuum leak, but it's looking like the most likely candidate, as I've noticed for a while now that the brake pedal is hard (not assisted) when I press it for the first time in the morning to start...

    Rough idle and one-time misfire

One of the coils is a bit brown from previous corrosion, but I can't see any corrosion on the coil or plug. Before the road trip, the car had a terrible misfire, and it turned out to be that the windscreen wiper hose had split and was dumping water into the spark plug wells. I cleaned it up as...
