I always put old tyres on the front and new tyres on the rear but that's mainly to make sure the old rubber gets replaced next. However I don't think it really matters any more with modern cars.

If its a proper crunch then no oil will help you, if its just a notchy feel then changing oil might help. Have a search though, this has been covered so many times as its a very common problem. However I would not recommend Fuchs, it made no difference in mine and imo is just as good as the...

Another vote for Hankook V12's. Got them on the back and they grip like crazy, granted they are not being worked as hard as the front tyres but they appear to be punching above their weight.
