    Insurance quote *shocked*

Sounds like I'm paying over the odds! :( 33yrs old 9 yrs NCB, no accidents, no claims, 3 points, cars garaged over night, partner is on the policy and my car was registered in March - I paid ~ £700. However, that does include 17k miles pa, European cover, windscreen yadda yadda. Rich

    Garage took my R32 home...

Indeed.. two types of situations: 1) Someone genuinly cares and takes the car home carefully to look after it for you. 2) Someone who sees your car as a free loaner to use at will whilst in his care. I suffered no. 2 when having my car(s) converted to LPG a few years back. The installers just...

    Benefits of Clio V6 airbox

Would it really need a remap after changing the airbox? I thought that was the point of AFM that the standard map accounts for the fluctuation in air coming in! Do the Clio CUP racers not have a V6 airbox? Rich

    205 GTI Project Thread

I'd keep an eye out on your local classified papers - you might find something with a decent shell for £500 without a gearbox or engine? I think it was late G or J Phase II cars that had a better galvanised shell? Rich

    205 GTI Project Thread

I had a 205 1.9 GTI in the very same colour, was awesome. I rebuilt an Mi16 engine for it, but couldn't keep or finish it as my son was born and I had to buy a more sensible car (Nissan 200sx lol) Good luck, it's an awesome car.. and the value goes through the roof once it's A1. Rich

    Took the lid off......

The idea being the hot 'high pressure' air in the engine bay can escape from under the bonnet, over the windscreen. Very popular in jap car tuning too (or was!). Of course, the 200 has air ducts in the wings for this very reason, I believe? Rich

    Megane gearbox

I agree 100%.. my girlfriend said "are you going to change gear or what" the first time she was in it on a dual carriageway. "I'm in 6th" I replied, although coming from a 3.4L e46 could hardly believe it myself! It would be great to keep it std. in 1st, 2nd 3rd 4th, 5th and just change 6th...

    K&N Apollo vs Standard intake

Wow, that's a hefty power loss right there from just an air filter! Thanks for sharing.. (Did you get any pictures of the Apollo fitted?) Rich

    Newbie here - hi!

Right - an update! The car arrived (with 7 miles on the clock) and is everything I hoped for! Here are a few pictures - but I guess they all look the same after a while!? Very please I had the options I did, including colour, suspension, seats and wheels! Rich

    Your V5 doc?

They actually fitted a different CAT to the EURO5 cars as well as remapping it to be more efficient. I doubt they would need to change the full throttle maps to lose any bhp. Rich

How much oil did you use during run in?

.. or worse, on a Nissan 200sx... too late! :D

i've just got to say it out loud, to as many people as possible!!

lol, I'm in the same position, ordered it mid-December though and it should be at the dealers tomorrow after a couple of false starts. Cannot wait any longer, but I need to wait for them to flat-bed it down to me ughhh! Rich

Second thoughts about buying a 200 cup

^ I agree - when comparing a new 200 against a very low mileage >1 yr old car it wasn't worth having soiled goods, especially as I wanted a particular colour/option combo. Rich

    Albi 197 - A4 Reading

It's was yesterday about 5pm ish. I think there was a female in the passengers seat?

    air filter

IMO it depends how dirty the existing one is. If it's filthy then it can effect mpg - people often see when fitting an aftermarket air filter a touch better mpg, just because there's less restriction (and less filtration!) Rich

    Albi 197 - A4 Reading

Was on a little bike ride with my son and passed a tasty looking Albi Blue 197 stopped at the lights near the Calcot hotel. I was pointing as I'm expecting a Clio 200 Albi early March, so was showing my son what it'll look like :D Rich

    the clash between

I would be happy hacking away at most bits of car, but taking metal out of a wheel is not one of them. Do you know if it has weakened the wheel at all and if so, by how much? Will it fail at 130mph when you hit a bump? I wouldn't risk it.. but then, I tend to play safe! Rich

    USB Port

I've noted the renualt sport options list has been changed again on their website.. i.e. the Monitor is a standalone option now (£120) where it used to be £400 odd but come with the tunepoint/USB/BT upgrade - must be confusing at the factory!? Rich
