You don't need a more powerful bulb for main and a less powerful for dipped, they both take the same H7 bulb at 55W. Side lights are W5W (also called 501). I had Osram Nightbreaker Plus which were good and now have Philips X-treme Vision which are also good.

Just switching the ignition on will do it won't it? One turn of the key until it reaches its first position. Or push the button without your foot on the brake if you have keyless.

I was just going from my experience. I bought non-CANbus LEDs from a seller on eBay called fizzmo (or something) and lots of them started flickering, then bought CANbus ones from the same seller and they are fine.
