I used autoglym tar remover but found it was pretty crap really, my fingernail removed more tar. Need to research a good tar remover before I next clay the car
I tried clay for the first time a couple of weeks ago when I bought my 197. I was worried at first but like you say it is so easy to use and the results are amazing. Couldn't believe the dirt that came off my car just after cleaning it!
Well i'm glad not everyone see the continentals as complete write offs :D
Now i'm 2 weeks into ownership, still loving it and been keeping it clean so it still looks great. Not sure how long i'll be able to keep up with washing it every weekend - If we get this cold winter thats apparently...
Saw a nice green 200 in the Halfords car park in Altrincham this week. Was there a couple of times, looked as though it was having some work done on it at the autocentre.
Had to laugh at the mechanic driving it as he spent 2 minutes trying to lock the car, only for it to reopen when he tried...
Looks great mate, think i'll follow you with the same kit and 5k colour. Looks just the right colour to me and HIDs direct are local to me so can go and pick them up.
Are the headlights easy to remove once the bumper is off?
And did you need to secure the 2 black boxes shown in the wiring to...
I hear great things about these over on Detailingworld.

Quality is apparently world above the meguires lambswool mitt
I'm also with Admiral, also been with Elephant too - Same company I believe. I just went with the cheapest quote off Confused.com, but my car is standard at the mo, so may look at more specialist insurance come renewal time after some mods
Yeah the MPG doesn't bother me too much, I wanted to buy a focus ST before settling for the 197 so I was already prepared for poor MPG.
I'll definitely change the gearbox oil too I think, planning to kill a few birds with one stone and do the gearbox oil, service the brakes and take the front...
haha yeah the fuel bill has been a tad high... I can't help myself though, every night since buying the thing i'm just sat at home thinking about going for a drive haha been out most nights after work, my favourite little route of country roads and A roads works out about a 40 mile round trip so...
I've had my 197 a week now and think the pedal travel is quite long.
I've found the first third of the travel doesn't really do much and when braking hard from high speeds the pedal needs a really good push and it does travel quite far. No signs of any problems so don't think its an issue...
Really?! The tyres have amazed me, in the wet especially - But maybe its just the capabilities of the car and not the tyres.
I had Potenza's on my classic mini and they were good but I never really thrashed that like i've been driving the clio so never fully tested them. My other car, just a...
Well its now been a full week since buying my 197FF. Absolutely loving it so far, done around 320 miles, majority round town to/from work and the rest have been out blasting on country roads and A roads. Averaged 22mpg and I reset the trip before going for a blast the other night and saw this...
Thanks mate, I will see if I can make it. Trafford Centre is only 10 mins from me.
Yeah maybe plastidip might not be the best idea thinking further. I only liked the idea of it because you can just spray it in situ and peel off any overspray.
Although i've looked into it now and the diffuser...
Thanks - You wouldn't guess the cars done nearly 80k miles after looking at the interior. Hopefully I can invest in some decent leather care products and keep it nice too.
Seems strange a 200 doesn't have an outside temp reading, I thought most cars after about 2000 had one to be honest. It is...
I'm also considering HID's for my projector lights on my 197.
Struggling to choose between 5k or 6k HID's though - Any idea which is closest match to standard fit zenon on the likes of BMW's and Audis?
Also am I right in thinking this is gona be a bumper off and headlight out job to fit them...
