    GW 200 CUP (clubsport->racecar->v2)

    I thought I had hit the bottom last year, apparently not. Spent the last few weeks doing fun stuff on the car, fire extinguisher wiring, hazards/heater wiring, ABS sensor issues and various small but satisfying things as I waited for the weather to improve. Last minute day booked...

    Where did you get the RPX pads from? I checked their website the other day and was saying out of stock.

    Glad your both ok, that went really quick, the saxo will do that if you lock the rear but I would have thought ABS would have prevented that. As you described just too much steering + brakes although it looks like it was the downshift to third that initially upset the car and then it didn't have...

    GW 200 CUP (clubsport->racecar->v2)

    Turning up to the unit over the past few weeks with fun stuff to do has been a joy, a year of turning up with the prospect of pulling out an engine I just put in or deadlifting a box has been draining. First job was to dump the break in oil, I have put some fresh running in oil for at least...

    I don't think the input shaft actually reaches the crank, I think it floats like the 1*2 but might be wrong?

    If you want to be competitive in HH it will be the dunlops or AO52's, top 3 in class B are on the latter.

    That was my dream first car, I remember you could get a poor 1.6 for about £800 when I was 17 but the insurance was close to 4k, had to settle for 1.1l clio :tearsofjoy:

    Just got back from Engine Dynamics, highlights: - 226 BHP - 171 FtLb I am very happy, I was hoping for 220 so 226 is very nice surprise, talking to Andy he expects it to rise as the rings bed in further and it would happily reach 230 if pushed to 8k but I would rather it lasted! Very...

    In the manual no but in the R3 pdf it mentions it, tbh I also originally used slightly shorter bolts as I couldn’t find the originals. I have now found them so thought I would try and improve my chances with the loctite and replacing the gasket which also meant removing the belt and re-timing.

    Agreed, going to try running again tomorrow once the loctite has had some time to dry and if it still leaks I will postpone.

    GW 200 CUP (clubsport->racecar->v2)

    Mapping booked for Thursday and I am not really ready. The good news is that the engine runs but the bad news is that I have a leak from the water pump bolts as I forgot to loctite, rookie mistake as I believe two go into the water jacket in the block. This is why she is currently leaning on...

    question about pistons

    Re the cams, the numbers don't mean anything, you need to measure the lobes to confirm but it will be standard if its from a mk3.

    question about pistons

    On the mk3 it’s the letter that is of interest, you have B or C depending on your block bore (different from the factory), your block should be a 832. I recommend taking measurements of the bore as they tend to taper depending on age/use which can then be made worse when honed (assuming you are)

    Wow, thanks, all inspired by all the brilliant project threads on here! For some reason I am drawn to things in life I find difficult which is why working on cars / racing is something I really enjoy. 2023 was a bit of a shit show car wise, I have learnt a hell of a lot and enjoyed (most) of...

    Weight of stock hood, or bonnet, as you call it : )

    Stole this from facebook, however its only half the story as once you add aerocatches the weight of my CF bonnet is 3.2kg, cheaper ways to lose a kg!
