Exactly this ^ its just fumes backing up and screwing with a sensor, causing high readings, once your on the move it clears and reading drops (as I was told so don't quote me on that) had it twice last year but not had it this year.

It took 10/20 capfuls to top it up so it hasn't lost much (if it ever did) Honestly it may have been at that level for a while and Renault probably didn't touch the coolant because it was fine at that level anyway. Honestly it doesn't sound like the car has been looked after. If it hasn't it will give you nothing but problems in your ownership and chances are you'll hate it. whats the history like? How old is it? 197/200? saying that the brakes really need a good service every year to keep them in shape...
