    hub ball joint f**Ked!!

Haha yeah, I've had a search and found the tools which would fit, but realistically think it would be very difficult to get them out by hand and not worth the effort. I'll get them stripped and take them to a garage which has a press.

    hub ball joint f**Ked!!

I no longer have access to a press at work so looking for alternatives to fititng these ball joints... does anyone know of some tools which make removing the upper and lower ball joints without a press fairly easy? My friend says you can use a ball joint removal tool that uses cups but haven't...

    hub ball joint f**Ked!!

Yeah it looks like it sits too high in comparison, I'll likely go for a 'heavy duty' one from Kam.

    hub ball joint f**Ked!!

My N/S ball joint is on the way out after ~50k miles since last replacement, when my wheel dips into holes I can sometimes hear that familiar slight clonk... drives fine otherwise but time to sort it before it gets worse. Has anyone here tried these new ball joints? The dust cover seems like a...

    Rear Beam Bushes

Do you know if these are more or less compliant than the purple powerflex? I'm going to do a full suspension refresh soon and really need to take care of these bushes at the same time. I'm going from Cup to standard 197 suspension so really not looking to make anything much firmer than stock.

    Alpine A290_B

That Alpine blue [emoji7] I just wish they were using the Clio platform rather than the R5. The rear end of the new Alpine trimmed Clio is really nice. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk

    Clutch Replacement - Additional Parts?

I recently started getting a whine/squeal on cold starts, which disappears when warm and now found when I touch the clutch I can make it happen at will. I'm coming up to 100k... clutch travel and bite is good but is probably the release bearing. While I'm there what would be worth replacing...

    Whining/whistling noise

Cheers Ben. It's tricky to diag as has to be cold, needs someone to hold the revs a bit and disappears after 10 minutes.

    Whining/whistling noise

Sorry to resurrect the thread but did the noise sound like it coming from the top of the engine? I was convinced it was behind the timing cover until I read this thread. Alternator bearing would be much easier to deal with... Will look/listen closer next cold start, sounds can travel around a...

    Alpine A290_B

I was pretty hyped for the A290 as thought they would be making a classy hot hatch, basically the refinement of an A110 with the convenience of a hatchback, something I would go electric for. The A290 styling is a bit too toy racer for me and agree that new Renault 5 looks nicer. After...

    Fitting Aluminium Footrest

Hi guys, I recently found a Megane aluminium footrest doing some Spring cleaning and would like to finally fit it. It come as a backplate and aluminum footplate. The obvious way is to place the backplate behind the carpet then rivet the front plate on top. I forsee a lot of dirt building up...

Timing Cover Oil Leak, Startup Noise and Solenoid Seal?

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure if it's a case of the seal being difficult to remove and refit and best to just leave in place for such a small leak. I've noticed since the weather has warmed up slightly it no longer has the slight wine on startup. The leak from o/s/r of engine is very slow so...

    Camshaft Sensor Seal Size?

I find the Camshaft Sensor Seal fails after a few months and starts to let out oil. I've been using silicone for a while but that also only lasts so long, does anyone know what seal will fit? Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk

Cup 197 to Standard for Comfort?

It is, although the cost of a full new standard factory setup is about 20% of the value of my car at this point. If anyone has a low mileage standard 197 shocks and springs all round for sale let me know...

Timing Cover Oil Leak, Startup Noise and Solenoid Seal?

Hi guys, My car is currently at 99k miles and is honestly driving the best it's ever felt, everything is so on point from the power delivery, steering and suspension. I do have a few issues though which need some attention and could do with some advice please. I have a slight oil leak from the...

Cup 197 to Standard for Comfort?

After running cup suspension for close to 100k miles I'm thinking when the suspension is next refreshed, to go for the standard 197 setup for a little more comfort on bumpy roads. If anyone has tried both, will there be a noticeable difference in comfort? Also will the loss of the cup make it...

Sprint Booster V3 - First impressions

Instead of creating a new thread I thought I'd resurrect this one. I fitted a sprint booster today and it really improves the driving experience, as Doogle said there's still a delay on the first bit of travel but overall it makes it so much easier to access the power and rev match. I'm still...

Zen and the Art of Clio Maintenance

It's not perfect but from some angles like the picture here its hard to see. I may have a professional get the very last bits out but this wasn't bad for a worn plastic hammer and heat gun.

Zen and the Art of Clio Maintenance

I think a white van hit my car when parked up recently and the dent was pretty bad, I managed to get most of it out using a plastic hammer and a heat gun, along with a full service, front brake refresh and a much needed wash after that desert rain!
