Stupid mistake: Have I now got to remove the inlet manifold?

I have broken the MAP sensor and let the broken bit fall into the inlet manifold. I am no mechanic but I am guessing that if I do nothing, next time I start the car, that bit of plastic will get sucked in and wreck valves and/or cylinder. Am I right? Have I now got to take the manifold off? So annoyed...

Well you either start it up and hope it passes through without damaging anything, or take it apart to retrieve the errand piece :tearsofjoy:

yeah done that before myself, easy to take the manifold out,(just the top part) wouldn't certainly risk it for the sake of 10 minutes it takes to do it

10 mins...might take me 20, but that's still a quicker job than I thought. Did you replace gaskets?
no shouldn't need to,just inspect it (you'll only see the top one) visually and make sure there is no breaks or crumbling apart.

Thanks for all your help. Job done. Part retrieved. Went like a dream. Until i started it. Now only firing on three cylinders  Perhaps dodgy connection on one of the coils.
