Front hub upper swivel joint removel

Hi, I am currently refreshing the front suspension on the Clio 200 Cup.

The bottom ball joints are easy enough to press out of the hubs (i have a 10ton press). I applied some gentle heat first and they slid out nicely.

However, I have come to press out the upper swivels and I just can't see how to hold the upright and apply pressure without stressing the part. Has anybody got a photo of how this is done?

Thanks,

Probably a scaffolding job on the ten ton press assuming you’ve removed the circlip as well...

Bit more heat and it will slide out like the bottom also

Hi, I know this is a long time ago, did you manage to get the upper swivel joint out? My mechanic just broke the housing while trying to press it out due to the awkward shape of the upper swivel.

My worry is if I get a used upper swivel hub and, without proper technique, he is gonna break it again while removing/installing the joint...

Thanks VeiRoNv2, I will try to get him to do it the way you have shown. From the look of where mine breaks, I think he wasn't supporting the housing upright enough as the pressing load coming down from the top. He has a hydraulic press that presses the top down.

Indeed RSRowe, and the new one with pre-installed joint aren't any cheaper either, they are 400 quids...
