200: Possible Over-Rev damage?

Was taking my Clio rs round the nurburgring last weekend and I believe I might've accidentally shifted from 3rd to 2nd (I'll try to attach a video) as i couldn't get it into 4th. Was just wondering what damage I should look out for and what I should do. Im not sure I even went fully into 2nd as I don't remember feeling much of a jolt. The car has also done another lap and driven 8 hours / 400 miles back home with no issues. I'm just paranoid

You could use a borescope down the spark plug holes to check for damage (piston to valve contact), and/or take the sump off to check for rod damage. But if it's running OK then I'd just forget it personally.

Yeah I have been trying to forget cause it seems fine haha but it's hard. I'm tempted to take it somewhere to get an engine health check anyway

Compression test, if you have bent a valve it will be obvious however if it has survived since I wouldn’t be concerned as it would have likely already dropped by now..

Thanks this eased my nerves a bit haha. Might get compression done anyway to be safe

If it helps, I've let 2 people take my 197 on the track and was passenger to TWO money-shifts (from 4th to 3rd instead of 4th to 5th) and my engine has done a further 4 track days without missing a beat... I was half expecting it to have blown but it seems pretty bulletproof!

Just keep an eye out when you do oil changes and use a magnetic sump plug if you're that worried!

This is very nice to hear thanks. Yeah I'll probably do an oil change soon tbh
