CLIO 197 CUP - Project TF

I'll be honest the only thing that makes me nervous with this is that some of the subframe bolts look angry. Does anyone know where I could buy replacements incase the worst happens?

Got the gearbox off yesterday - surprisingly easy job in all honesty. Easier on the floor than using the pit too.

Box has been dropped with DT Autowerx in Chesterfield last night for fitting new synchros and the LSD.

Quite excited now! Looking forward to seeing what the crack is and seeing if I can crack sub 1:13 around Blyton next month!

Are you replacing the clutch and/or slave whilst the box is out?

I am regretting not replacing the slave when we had our box done recently.

I was going with the if it’s not broke don’t fix it mentality but you’ve got me wondering if it’s worth just doing.

That’s exactly what I thought. It was good to see WhatsApp messages on Friday from Alex who rebuilt my gearbox who said, “Remember I told you to change it.”

Reyt then,

After what feels like an age due to busy work life at 10pm last night the clio was lowered onto the ground and the box install complete.

Some takeaways for me from this job are:
- It's easier than I thought it would be and think I could get this done again in half of the time now.
- Bleeding a mk3 rs clutch is easier than I expected.
- It's the first time in a while I've enjoyed working on the car and not had it feel like a chore. It's been nice to lock myself away in the garage on evenings and weekend mornings doing bits in the garage. I have been travelling a lot with work the past month so it has been nice to have some proper escapism.
- Always have the speaker charged.
- Next job induction kit for more noise.

I would post a full write up of the job but being honest nothing spectacular happened during it that wouldn't be any different to the jobs done by others on here for the same thing AND I didn't take any photos that weren't of a new slave cylinder (Agent cylinder to be PC) or me and my mates acting a knob.

One question I do have is in regards the effectiveness of the diff and if I am asking too much of it already? I drove the car around on some private land last night and drove around what could be described as roundabout like corners and whilst feel like the car pulled through massively it wasn't as obvious as I was expecting but I suspect I will be able to properly tell when I begin to push on. As I was firmly going at 3 tenths.

Car is going for an alignment and mot today. Roll on Blyton next Saturday.
