Help needed going in blind!

Hi Guys,

Today was a bad day, while pulling away from the lights earlier in the day there was a slight loss of power and a very large rattle coming from the engine, so was taking it easy for the rest of the day, when I was on the way to work I accelerated quite gently and was changing from 1st to 2nd (with this rattle still going) when all of a sudden the car loss all power and drive, all lights went off on the dashboard but the hazards carried on flashing. SO I had Green flag out, the guy tried all his best with fuses and trying to reset the ECU but had no luck trying to get the lights to come on my dashboard.

In the end I had to be put on a tow truck and taken to a local garage RS Murray's in Leeds but by the time I had got there it was shut so I have had to leave my car there as it won't move, my question to you guys is do you know what the problem could be? I don't want be going to the garage in the morning not knowing and them charging me for a lot for unnecessary work.

Thanks

Phil

rs murrays wont fleece you......been in business too long to do that and have a good reputation...

I second that from foxspeed. Had my car serviced with them and they were spot on. Very helpful and honest.

Yep bit of an update, they have been really helpful so far, Engine has jammed they are not too sure what it is yet without stripping down the engine. The garage think it might be the timing assembly, so going to get into contact with Renault as that part shouldn't be failing at 36,000 miles and only just over 4 years old.

Very odd if it is the timing assembly - age and mileage, it shouldn't be happening as you say. Let us know how you get on with it.

After speaking to Renault UK the car is going to moved from the garage to a Renault dealership where they will be able to run diagnostics on the car, they have said if it is the timing assembly that they will cover the costs or if it is something else to do with the engine that Renault may contribute towards the cost as it hasn't been out of warranty for too long and parts like that shouldn't be failing.

A further update of my car, once it got transferred to Renault it took them a week to work out the car's start motor was shorting out the battery that's why there was no power to the car, now it's taken another half a week for them to realise that the engine has jammed which I told them when they first received the car that was the problem. So its taken them a that long to just diagnose the car, now they won't take it any further until I have sent them a invoice for every service that the car has ever had, what annoys the most is that all the stamps are in the service book which they have got but they won't except the stamps.

sounds like they are trying for a way to get out paying....what dealer is it:zap:

If its main dealer history, just ring Renault UK and they can supply you with the information of which dealer did the servicing.

There was 3 services with main Renault dealers then 1 specialist but I have got the service invoice for the last service before I bought the car so hopefully this will be cleared.
