To buy a Quaife or not

Gearbox is getting dropped out in a couple weeks to fit a new slave and clutch. Deciding whether to buy a quaife or not.

Talk me into it or out of it.

Quaife is definitely my favourite mod on my Clio. Generally pottering about you wouldn't know it was there, but start pushing on through the bends & you can really feel it working & pulling the car round. Great on track! Where you would expect to start running wide you're being pulled round. Feels great to use. I also like the fact that it's maintenance free, just fit it & let it get on with it's job.
I'd say that if you're dropping the box anyway definitely take advantage of the opportunity to fit a Quaife.

not sure what a difference between an LSD and Quaaife is but im sure in general, they both are designed to help you turn in better etc..
you can defo tell its there as Johnny said..when you just cruising around town you dont even notice it but start pushing and the car will come alive..the speed you can carry into a corner and come out of it is significantly higher..
sorry didnt really help as per your request but it is that good

I would have thought that if you were having that work done and the money to buy one, it would be a no brainer, especially if you're going to use it on track.

I really need to come out with you John and see what it's like first hand. Was meant to say at Spa but completely forgot, yours is the most like-for-like in terms of spec so would give me a real good idea.

Just realised, £735 for a Quaife. Not half as bad as I thought.

Yeah, around £1k fitted, so if the box is out anyway that's the time to do it. Next time we're at a track together you can have a shot. I'm at Donington this month & I'm doing Llandow with RSUK in August. Dave Johnson reckons Quaife will come into it's own at Llandow so if you fancied popping along check RSUK FB page. Good value day & a good bunch of folk.

Cheers John that would be great. If I had the money before Spa when I had the recon'd box fitted I would have, spoke in depth with Rich from Rentune but it would have completely broke me at the time. He's told me he'll fit it for £100 if I get the box out so not bad at all, plus he'll check the box over at the same time.

Yeah saw Dave put it on the 197/200 page. Might well sign up if you're there too. I'm sure @R27WTF will probably come as well.

Big Chris is there too along with a couple of his mates.

Wednesday 13th. MSVT novice day, by which they mean no race licence holders & relatively little track experience. I find these days well organised & s 20 minute sessions without too many cars on track at any one time. I believe spaces are still available.

Yea they do however I can’t get away with dropping another £200 :worried:

I've got an R26 LSD fitted to my meglio - whats the main difference between that LSD I have and a Quaife?

As far as I know a quaiffe is just an aftermarket lsd, maybe different ramp angles to tweak it for road/rally etc, but effectively one and the same

Cheers for the reply’s guys. Decided against it for now as I’m trying to save for a house deposit. Definitely planned in for future upgrades though
