POTM - October 2017

Good evening fellow photographic friends !

After a truly stupendous months entries for the 'open' topic of September in both quality and sheer amount of entries (And that's still being voted on if you havnt yet):

http://www.clio197.net/threads/vote-potm-september-2017.58056/page-2#post-668513

.....we swiftly toss that aside as ever; and move into a fresh month and a new topic.

And as per this discussion here:

http://www.clio197.net/threads/the-future-of-potm-your-vote-counts.58034/

It seems to be a popular train of thought at the moment; to mix between chosen themes to get the grey matter working.....and a completely open topic to purely show-off that Clio based porn !

So to give you all a heads-up; the plan for the rest of the year is:

October: Chosen theme.
November: Open topic.
December: Xmas based theme.
January: Two Competitions to run hand-in-hand at the same time. 1./ Being a POTY [Picture of the year] with each of the previous 12 months winners from 2017 going head-to-head in a Best of the Best / end of year Finale..............and 2./ The normal POTM for January to get the New Year started.

So, with a bit of background about the remainder of 2017 , we get back to the subject of October.

And the topic we have chosen for October 2017 is:

"CONTRASTS"

No clues from 'us' this month. It's as wide, varied and open and you interpret it - and as ever: The Forum decides if you've hit the mark !

To remind you all though; just please stick to these 3 simple rules;

1. Only freshly taken shots, taken by you and for this months comp alone please.
2. This is a Clio forum - and a [Preferably your] Clio needs to be somewhere in the shot.
3. You may enter more than one photo to show your skills ! However the first shown counts.

**Entries close Tuesday 31st @ 7.00pm and voting will commence ASAP afterwards.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE - HAVE FUN.

I hope I'm allowed to participate? If yes, here's my entry. It's a German "Sport Auto Edition" in case that's relevant.

Only slightly reworked. Fixed a small lense flare, added some contrast, raised the saturation and reduced the brightness a bit.

Note: Point 1 not really met as the photo was taken before I even knew this thread existed. If that's really a criterium for exclusion so be it.

Thanks for all the entries so far, good to see them being submitted early doors!

As we all know, POTM is intended to be fun, a bit of a challenge, and a pleasant pictorial sideshow for the forum each month. It seems to be growing in popularity all the time, which is brilliant.

So, having said that, we just wanted to take the opportunity to go over a couple of things.

Firstly, the Rules (which can be seen on post #1) are designed and included so as to provide some guidelines and set out some basic criteria for the entries. There is of course scope for creativity, however the rules are there for a reason.

And the same applies for the set Theme. We have decided to move forward with every other month being set aside for an Open subject matter, where anything goes for your Clio/RS related pics. However, when there is a Theme stated for the month, we would prefer that entries do make a reference to that particular topic, with of course again space for interpretation (a lot of the fun with these themes!).

No photo will ever be excluded, and all will be included in the vote, but we felt that these points should be made for future reference.

Thank you for reading, and we trust that this clarifies things

Keep snapping, people!

Diplomacy indeed Jimmy  Needed saying IMO.

There's a fair amount of work behind the scenes even in running / discussing these rudimentary 'fun' photographic Comps on here. Along of course with with keeping the forum going on all levels; which takes up a fair bit of our free time for all Admin and Mods involved here on a daily basis.

All of this squeezed between work, other hobbies, family life, running a business etc too as applicable. And to reiterate; all of us perform our unpaid duties here purely as volunteers for the benefit and growth of the forum and its members alone.

So when rules are posted to keep some sort of order over the comps and to provide a see-through and level playing field for all entries.....as fun and friendly as this is supposed to be.....it is somewhat of an insult / kick in the teeth to see photos posted that someone has clearly taken no-time to plan [Or infact has just copied and pasted a previously seen or taken photo that bares no resemblance to the topic at all] and has paid no attention to the criteria laid down and forms the basis of these comps......

Hope you see our point of view ongoing; and in saying all of that: Happy snapping !
