Renault Sport Clio 197 Racing Red

Good to see there's still some great NA cars on here. I'm all for pushing that envelope but I think a health usable 215bhp Clio is superb. Said it before but there's a glass ceiling that the Clio can go beyond but the cost for me doesn't justify the amount or they drive like a bag of crap as a daily. Lovely car though....

If I was about to do it all again, I would Meg the Clio.
But I see most of the Megged Clios go up for sale shortly after the swap...I just don't get that.

However, now I find my car to be super responsive and pretty fast (we have a saying - you can never have enough horses and women  ) for a 1200kg and 210bhp N/A car. That's in a straight line, and I think I don't need to emphasise the performance when it comes to cornering and stopping - we all know what are our cars capable of even when stock.

This is a third family car so I drive it mostly only on weekends and that makes the need for compromise even less than before.
That's what made me think of stripping the Clio and putting in some bucket seats. To make that bhp/t ratio even better.
I'm at ~175bhp/t now.

Yeah I agree, as quick in a straight line as a 275 would be a good place to be, especially when stringing an NA out to do that means it will have all the drama and noise that a 275 is missing IMO.

If my Clio was a 3rd car yeah I'd strip it for sure, mini road going Cup Racer  However mines a daily and I take the kids to school in it and use it for meetings with work etc! So I'm already pushing the boat out tbh!

New summer setup.

Alleggerita's are 0,9kg lighter than the Ultraleggera's.

However, the Goodyear's are 0,5kg lighter than the Hankook's so total reduced weight per wheel is (just) 0,4kg.

That's a quick Clio but I think it's more to do with how you've looked after it.

It's a well kept machine and it shows, especially when you're slamming stock megane's with a bigger torque curve than you.

Keep it up Raptor! Wish I had the balls and money to keep improving my car like you have. At the moment, I'm just lightening the whole car and it works a treat.

The reason I asked is cos I thought I remembered you saying you hated them? Or was it a different tyre?

Yes I do/did.

They had such a soft sidewall and such small thread width. Just awful. The worst tires I ever had. They had the worst feedback on the wheel, and gave me far less confidence than any other tire.

Thought so lol! Dont think id run a tyre if I hated them that much :d

Mine has eagle f1s on them andi find them ok :/

Lowered the car a bit....

Nice, it looks better lower. Dread to think how bad mine would look on a profile pic like that with standard Cup suspension!
