Cornering speeds.....

How frightenin' quick are these bloody clio's around sweeping bends and corners....quite funny how you can catch out super quick cars....especially in the wet. Believe me this wasn't a case of them not trying. Two separate occasions, same road. First E46 M3, second time last night, one of those fancy 300bhp audi TT's. Same result, see you later....you can take 15 - 20mph quicker into bends than most fast stuff.....and I don't profess to being a good driver!!!

Hahahahaha!!!

There in lies the true reason for owning a Clio!!! I had the same thing yesterday with a Focus ST. He pulled out behind me, came flying up to my bumper as we approached the National Speed Limit Sign and heading to the lanes at the back of Dunham Massey then I dropped into 3rd and booted it... He was DEFINATELY trying, I had the windows down a bit and you could hear the Turbo spooling and dumping like mad. Couldn't hear him after the third bend, couldn't see him after the fifth bend.

By the time I'd got to Waitrose, parked and got out, he was JUST coming past the car park.

On the same road in recent weeks I've also lost a DC2 ITR and a Porsche Boxster.

...had a Mk5 Golf GTi on my bumper in a series of 40mph roundabouts last night, he was being very impatient and trying to intimedate me....each roundabout I just took a racing line and just stayed at 40mph....GTi dropped well back every time and then floored it to catch up again....

Its even more evident on a track. Countless times I've caught the "faster more expensive cars" in the corners but at the slight hint of a straight the blast away. Only for you to catch them at the next set of corners and get in the way again.

I remember a while back I took a rather large round thing at speed. All I'm going to say is watch out for drain covers and other slick surfaces on the road. My back end stepped out about a foot and scared the piss out of the bloke next to me, and nearly made me need some new boxers...

They are very quick, don't think I have found the limit of the car yet only my own limit.

65-70 is the fastest I can take a very winding road and that's pushing my ability lol

Yeah the few times I've given mine some in the dry on some bendy stuff I thought the car was being used to 50% of its true potential lol although I thought at the time i was seb vettel!

Haha to agree with this pretty much lose anybody in the bends corners so easily just glides around, have a few good twisties round my area few friends cannot believe what the car can do as they hold on tight thinking we're going through the bush only to see us glide around the bend so care free

I remember my mate was following me once so thought Id show him just a hint of the cars ability and flew round this round about was going for 2nd exit so like a chicane and.was only at 70% of the cars ability I feel and he couldn't believe how quick I took it and couldn't believe how flat the car looked as it turned in.

That's true, you can really uleash the full potential on the track, and the car is soooo quick while cornering/braking...

I've seen a Mondeo completely sideways behind me as he tried to take the same line, at the same speed as me, going across a roundabout on the Bristol ring road...

yea its so smooth at speed handling is like no other deffinately a fun factor of the clio i was suprised how well it sticks to the road when i 1st brought mine in 2009 and i still get thrills even now taking it out:smile:

What percentage better with collies? 15 -20%?

Maybe 5%??? I can't see that if you can do 100mph round a bend at 100% attack, coilies will allow you to do 120mph.... Just my opinion but there is only so much grip offered by the tires.

there's a particular bend going on to the m6 that i can do 10 miles an hour faster than a focus st and a a 964 porsche 911 when it was 6 years old, staggering how well this little bucket handles
