UR detailing??

I have an ultra red 197, basically at the moment im using autoglym spr as good as it is, I'm struggling to get rid of swirls and imperfections, I'm doing it by hand and i don't feel confident to machine polish, so how am I supposed to be doing it? I'm using the meguiars applicator pads letting it harden and then buffing off? Or does anyone else recommend any other polish to use by hand as there is so Many out there!!

I could do with knowing the same tbh. I don't use AG stuff cause I don't really like it. Been using Megs.

If you don't mind spending a bit of money, get RussZS to correct it for you. He isn't far from you

Look through the polished bliss web site and maybe detailing world and you should find stuff that will help your car. Member we have paint that's very sensitive!

UR is nightmare to correct, you'll struggle by hand. I had a bit of advice from Russ after struggling to machine polish mine, he suggested one of the new generation polishes (Menz 203S or Meguiars M105/205). I got the 203S which works amazingly well at removing swirls but isn't so good at deeper scratches as it's just not abrasive enough. Meguiars M105 is great and is what I ended up using on most of the car, you will need a machine for it though

Might have to have a look at these sites, but atm I've got the 'CBA' fever!

Hmm I suppose I could use russ how much does he charge, mine needs correcting BIG time, door sills are all scuffed from previous owner and odd blemishes, swirls are not too bad on mine but they are noticeable and irritate the hell out of me!!!!!

Mine's got some bits that need minor attention, not to the average everyday Joe Bloggs though.

That's why I asked on here Arran there is way to much information on them I just get lost in a load of pictures of look here's me in the paint lol!

Any solid paint is hard to correct and or keep up to.

I have an excellent product but it's pricey, it both corrects and fills so you get an excellent finish.

You could also look at Zymol rouge, it contains red dye that also helps mask the swirls etc. Not used it myself but Foxspeed has some and his car always looks good.

Whatever you do, be careful with your product choice on UR, it really is a strange paint and doesn't like a lot of polishes. Russ will confirm this, hence my suggestions above

I think I might have to go down this route for my car and the missus', her's still needs some work on it to make it better.

So you saying only way to achieve results is by machine polishing it?

Not quite, the only way to remove the swirls and any other scratches in a reasonable amount of time is by machine polishing.

You can fill the swirls by hand with a product like SRP or you can correct by hand if your name is popeye :thumbup1:

I find SRP just adds to the problem.

It may mask on application but the abrasives just adds more.

Best the for no swirls is asking the dealer not to wash it when new!

I found the problem with UR is that it can scratch SO easily. When I machine polished mine I was even finding that average quality clean microfibre cloths were scratching it when buffing off the polish. It's a real struggle to keep swirl free

Deep black can be the same with the microfibres. It's Renaults paint, it's shocking. But also it shouldn't be a struggle to take the polish off. Wiping polish off should be a simple wipe

It was a simple wipe off but was still marring the paint :worried: was ok with brand new quality microfibre though
