So....Finally had the cambelt done, but the 5 year service?

So as the title says I finally got my car in on Monday to have the cambelt done. Dropped it off to Birchdown in the morning and picked it up around 4/5ish, everything seeming fine and dandy.

Until, I looked in the Service Book (When I got home) and saw that the spark plugs hadn't been changed. Now I thought to myself that all 5 year services included Spark Plug changes. Then I noticed that my paperwork also stated 12k service.

Would someone be able to clarify the differences between a 5 year service and a 12K (Which I imagine is the yearly) service?

Don't get me wrong, I think that I may have misunderstood/mistaken what I was after and just want to know what else I would need doing.

The areas that were covered as per the paperwork were: Timing belt, auxillary belt kits and water pump as well as oil change + filter, air filter and cabin filter. They also checked the brakes which I need to sort. Is there anything else missing apart from the spark plugs? Plus all of this was £699, does that sound about right for a cambelt and 12k service?

(Sorry about the war and Peace)

spark plugs are at 36000miles and not age and not at 5yrs unless its 36k miles at the same time...

Ahh right ok, so is there no difference between a 5 year service and what I have had done?

I will check in the book to see if the sparks have been changed however seeing as mines at 55k now I guess they should have been.

Thanks for the info.

Yep, as foxspeed says there isn't a time interval on the plugs, just the mileage. Yes that seem to be everything on the 5 year service. Sounds steep to me personally but that's probably as I did my own at the weekend and it cost me less that half that.

I'm sure most specialist seem to be charging around £550 for the belts so it's not too much over the top I don't think

Ok thanks Chris, I am looking at swapping out the front pads and disc myself (with help from an experienced mechanic friend of mine) and I was planning on doing the sparks but I guess I don't need to bother now.

I thought it was ok considering that it was £35 labour and seeing as is was the cambelt (A very crucial part) I wanted it done right. The Service was about giving it a fresh flush, plus the light was on. Might do it myself next year.

Thanks for the info guys.
