So back in October I bought the 197 from a member on here (18ME) with only 21k on the clock. The car was registered in 2008 and had 2 previous owners. The latter being a superb owner with no expense spared.

I wanted to continue this myself and keep the standard hi. So this is my project log from my owner ship until the end of her days. I guess I should start with the spec.

Renaultsport Clio 197 (NIMBUS) with all the desirable options, very well looked after, low mileage and in a great colour.

Optional equipment:

Nimbus Grey

Climate Control

The car at the moment has Full Renault Service history at each service interval.

Thanks for looking. My next update will be along shortly.

So the my initial plan was to not touch the car at all. Leave her 100% standard. Sadly about 3 months ago someone pulled out on me and I smashed the beautiful rims into the curb and I fell out of love with the car.

But I'm glad to say since then my love for the car has rekindled and I have a 3 stage plan for mods and improvements.

Stage 1

Lower the car to reduce arch gap.
Wheel spacers to push the wheels out slightly for a better stance
Silver tech bulbs
Led number plate lights for a fresher look.

Stage 2

Refurbish Alloy wheels maybe in a darker colour.

Stage 3

k-Tec Cat Back exhaust system
K-Tec Sprint Rear Spoiler.

After this I don't in visage doing much more to the car at all. Other than keeping in check with its services and tiding up bits and pieces here and there.

Stage 1 Update

So last week I took the plunge after long consideration of getting the car lowered or not and bought some H&R Springs. 25mm on the front and 30mm on the rear.

I had them fitted the night before last and here is a before and after.

I have to admit I'm really not loving the stance atm... I hope spacers will make hell of a difference and in all honesty these pictures do nothing for the car. So I will pop out today and get some better.

Any suggestions on how much to push the front and rear out?

This week I also took a trip to cardiff to pick up these bad boys..... Any guesses?

Yeap thats right... Another set of Raiders

IMG_0230.jpg

These will be powder coated slightly darker than they currently are, even possibly black tbh but we will see. Had a quote from the sprayer for £210 powder coated for all four which I thought was a good price tbh. Fortunately I had two good tyres on these which are almost new and I got the four for £122. Bargain. They should be going in for some paint around the end of this month/start of next.

But for the time being I need some spacers

Thanks for reading.

Get ur raiders done in white nate that would really turn heads with the colour of ur car dont think i have ever seen a grey one with white raiders. U can really notice the diffrence on the front after uve put the springs on

Yea I see what you're saying but I don't think white would compliment the pearl in the grey at all.

I have my heart set on a dark colour

Looks well nice Scott would love to lower mine but she who drives it wouldn't like it

Is that just on the rear mate?

no mate,i put them front and rear,if you only widen the rear track you'll end up with bad over stear,i'll post a pic of mine on H&R's with 16mm spacers,i spent ages looking into what size to go for and after advice from benW on here i settled for 16's so hope this helps

I like the dark wheels mate!! I also like the ride height alot  How is the ride with the HR springs? Firmer? I have the nimbus aswel  was tempted to go with black wheels also but its got the diamond cut wheels on at the moment and I'm not really keep on having those painted black. I've carbon wrapped the roof, mirrors, badges and door handles on mine. Looks nice now. Would look even better with darker wheels! I had 20mm front spacers and 30mm rear on the A3 I had before the clio, within 6 months/20k miles after I installed them I had to replace the wheel bearings, when I lowered the A3 on HR springs, I had the arches scrubbing almost every time I wen't over speed bums or uneven road sufaces/especially on the motorway and with more than two people in the car. I don't know where your located, but some specialists have tester spacers that you can put on, drive around for 5 minutes and take back. I've never had spacers on the clio, it might react differently to the A3 but I'm don't recommend 20mm+ spacers! Although they looked sweet!

Got the springs from Larkspeed mate. Also any pictures of your nimbus? It sounds interesting. Thanks for the advice as well
