Renault Sport "dealers"

Was driving through Worcester the other day with the Mrs, thought I'd pop into the RS dealer whilst I was passing as was advised by my local Renault dealer (Cheltenham) that Worcester's the RS dedicated "experts"!!

Mrs sits in a 200 in the showroom, salesman comes over, was freindly enough and asks if i needed any help. Now Im new to Renault so just mentioned we'd recently bought a 197 R27 (altho not picking up till mid Feb)and i was just showing her the 200. His reply was "R27....is that a Golf?" Without trying to sound like a smartarse I replied its a Clio, the shape before this.

Bit uncomfortable I then mentioned the matt grey 200 Raider they had outside on display, saying it looked stunning. He said lots of people get drawn to the paint work. I then asked about them doing a matt red version as well don't they but the poor guy didn't have a clue.

Now I'm not having a go at the guy personally, it may have been his first day for all I know...but come on, from my limited knowlege of Renault Sport so far, I was kinda hoping an RS dealer might have been able to educate me a bit or at least know the basics. As this is my nearest RS dealer it did get me a bit worried actually, certainly hope the service Dept isn't the same should i need anything doing.

Anyway rant over, couple of pics of the Raider:

Actually..rant on again..couldn't believe the screen price..21,695!!! :blush:hmy:

I've had mixed responses from Renault 'dealers'

Some are quite passionate about the whole range, and others just look at it as 'their job' and just do enough to flog a car now and then.

Friend of mine used to work for renault in stevenage and knew all the cars inside and out (including the modus which was brand new at the time)

Others i've spoken to just dont have a clue, one guy couldnt even work the keycard (although in his defense, this was at a ford garage and the clio had been part-ex'd)

give the guy some slack, he might be new  go back in a few weeks and test him!

ive used worcester mate to have my door lock replaced and went in for 0930 didnt leave until 1650 safe to say i wasnt very happy with the all day wait from a specialist dealer so im refering back to my home dealer in eastbourne who are actually brilliant been using them since 2009 and have never had any problems with them had brilliant service from them and always on time well earlier to be honest and always happy to help out when i go in plus they give me discounts too:smile:

But if he is new surely he should have asked for advise as he potentially lost a ?£18,000 sale

This is common with the Renault Stealers.. There has been many of a time i have been in Renault Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Elgin and Memsie and had to tell the guys about the car never mind them telling me..

One guy from Aberdeen is supposedly a 'Renault Sport expert' he couldn't tell me half of the specs of my R27 or what i needed to service it. I also enquired about a R26 and he couldn't tell me jack **** either..

If you want to know something, come onto the site and ask..

Does'nt inspire confidence does it?

You might have taught him a couple of things, the next customer might go in and comment on the colour and the salesman will go 'You can have it in red too sir'

In my area
Kindlington Renault. - no clue what a 200 was
Jaybee Banbury - nick corne - amazing knew the range inside. Outside. Back to front

Yeah, got nothing against the salesman personally, nice young friendly chap but they should be up on product knowledge a bit. Made me smile when he walked off..."well if you need any more info just give me a shout"!!:001_rolleyes:

Bristol Street Motors, Altrincham...

I asked for a Meg' 250 brochure and if they had one in stock for me to poke at. He led me outside to look at a 200 Cup. I told him I already had a 197 and wasn't interested in a 200 but reiterated that I wouldn't mind looking at a 250, not so much to buy but just as I was passing the dealership and faniced a poke around. He just looked at me blankly (with a real ''cogs are turning, brain not engaging'' expression) before a colleague came to his rescue with a stack of brochures...

FAIL.

who did you spoke to?

My local dealership tried to tell me my front bumper was 'modified' following my 'polite request' for them to fix a problem they made lol

It seems they are only really bothered about their largest target demographic, the quick turnover normal cars.

It amazes me these clios are still pretty rare on the roads, ill see a few but atm havent seen even one in months.

Cant go wrong with some of the renault specialists imo, at least there clued up

It annoys me that the sales people don't know what they are selling. For my job I have to know how a boiler works and how to be safe with gas. All boilers are different and I never know what I might find. But when you've got the same cars sitting there all day every day with so much info available for them, why don't they just do some bloody research for the hours they spend standing round drinking coffee? Honestly.

I see that too. They seem wasting time walking around.
