more bhp or torque

I know you get bhp from torque, but I was wondering what is better bhp or torque, I suppose more torque leads to more bhp?
but not looking at the figures previously quoted in my first post?

its where that torque is...ie revs is the key to the equation...

turbo car it will be low to mid range as most don't have turbos big enough to flow at high revs and hence keep the torque curve up

For mainly road use, a good wedge of low end torque is always nice.
