Main dealer or ktec

Cars a year old next month would I loose second hand value by taking it to ktec. The service interval is 2 years or 12000 miles, the car will have about 5000 miles on it. Ktecs probably better but also worried about warranty.

Judging by the reputation of the many of the main dealers i dont think a Renault Service History helps second hand values. As mentioned warranty still valid if OEM parts.

i wouldnt worry in the slightest!

mines never been serviced by a renault dealer - when under warranty was done by local specialist (just the minimum) and now i do the work which is far and above what renault recommend!!

been a few on here that people have thought about buying with "full service" history...and when you have a close look they havent been done as per the 12k/12m (197) - some traders think as long as each section is stamped eventually thats "full service history" - so using a specialist wont be a worry given those standards :innocent:

...same here...never had my cars serviced at a main dealer since I took my !82 Trophy in only to see it being driven rather badly in the car park by a spotty oik.....always used a specialist and every time this has been appreciated by the eventual buyer....

Had my 200 for 3 years as of next week so it needs an MOT, plus it also needs a 24,000 mile service. Having taken my previous 182 to Ktec I've decided to take the 200 there.

This decision was made easier after I had a few warranty issues issues with my local dealer not carrying out properly first time which resulted in me being without a car for over a week as they never have any loan cars.

For me personally, I really don't have anything to gain from taking it to Renault, it is more expensive and the service/experience isn't as good.

im taking my 197 to ktec thursday as they were a good chuck cheaper than renault and id personally want a specialist over a normal garage.

To be honest, I'd probably rather buy a car that had been serviced at the likes of Ktec or RSTuning than something done at Renault, especially for the big services like Cam Belt.

Just my opinion though

Any reputable garage can service a Clio! All this talk of k tec or RS tuning only is ridiculous. Obviously they are well known but any decent mechanic can do the job.

+1 Used the same garage for over the last 15 years and never had a concern with my cars

Mine has full Ktec service history as far as the book says and when I brought it it was serviced (belts done) by them as well which means the renault garage sent it to them to do :/ mines due one soon and is still under its years warranty I got and they said it would still be in warrenty if Its serviced by Ktec.

There are good dealers out there but just no where near as many as there should be.

I use one very regularly and wouldn't send my cars anywhere else.

The very best renault dealer was davis
Of sevenoaks, but sadly in close proximity to
Masters of beckenham and orp who were dire

Just remember most renault specialists are ex renault techs....

My first service was done by Renault at the time of sale and the second by K-Tec Racing when they fitted my RS side skirts! I wouldn't dream of taking my car to a workshop more accustomed to servicing bog standard Renaults. I had my old RS197 serviced at at Renault garage and the paint got scratched when they 'washed' it....

Is Davis of Sevenoaks the same as Haywards of sevenoaks? A quick search for davis returned haywards of sevenoaks. Are they closed or superseded by Haywards?
