I'm being picky... But I'm impatient!

Yes, I can confirm that despite popular belief Northern Ireland is part of the UK. As stated before I have brought a few cars from England to NI and gave always kept the numberplate that was on it (though when I registered them over here I was offered a new NI reg for free). I'd near guarantee that the reg that car will not go with it. To get a 3 digit NI registration you have to pay just like getting cherished reg from the DVA.

A flight to Belfast costs around £40 and a single way boat return should be around £100.

Getting it registered in your name can be a pain if there is tax on it. Though it's only 1 form to register it on top of the usual V5C form.

Edit: just noticed it's now on a 'UJI' plate which would annoy the heck out of me as it a 2014 issue plate and is too new for the car but nobody on the mainland will know that. .

Good luck with your search mate.

The problem with being picky with mileage is that you might find one eventually only to realise that it's poor on extras. IMO a very good -relatively- high mileage example with the desired extras is better than a low mileage poorly equipped one. Folding mirrors, auto lights, climate, xenons, auto mirrors etc can't be retroffited:wink:

Another thing you should bear in mind is that low mileage doesn't always mean futureproof reliability. Sometimes and especially with these cars it's the other way around:wink:

Again good luck and hopefully you'll be an R27 owner soon enough!

Thankyou. My pickiness means I'm looking for low mileage and highly specced with full service history and a recent cambelt change lol - so I get exactly what you mean I'm looking the perfect car!

Yes maybe a needle in a small haystack

Thanks - but I want one with climate control

(Sorry I'm a pain aren't I?)

No worries

Think your going to have to compromise on something though. Personally if the car was/is perfect but only climate control was missing then id be taking a look

When i got my 200 - it was perfect except no recaros and no cup spoiler but was tip top condition and i was getting at cost price - i was willing to compromise and so added the recaros and a cup spoiler at a later date.

With the meg, its perfect but doenst have xenons - will just add those

Your money though so 100% down to you and if you have the time/willing to wait

Good luck with the search!

As said, the only cost involved is the ferry and flights. From personal experience though I have found it can be harder to sell a car on the mainland with a NI plate on (when/if you eventually sell it on).

Regardless I'm sure you'll find something

Edit; Also to add to this, if you are looking for a low miles then why does it need to have had a cambelt change? Check here for the servicing guidelines put up by another member

Out of curiosity, does this car even exist? I can not remember what that website is that shows the stats on the cars and their specs, but it might be useful.

And then the real question is it up for sale with the right mileage.

As mentioned, hold out for as long as you can but I think some compromise will have to be made.

Just to clear up with people. Everyone likes banter and some fun, but we do not tolerate direct abuse to other members, especially some of the words that were used above.

This site is a welcoming and friendly, yes, 1-2 people argue and that's fine, but direct abuse for no reason is not welcome

Not quite sure what I missed there, I think I'm glad.

traveling a distance for the right car and being picky is never a bad thing, it's your money to spend so why not have it as near as damn it to your perfect requirements.
ive traveled all over the country over the years looking at cars, many wasted journeys and many brilliant finds, it's what we do being an enthusiast, I hope you find the ideal car you are looking for.

I *may* be reading it wrong but you seem to be intimating that if its low miles it wont have required a cambelt change, or are you just saying cambelt change not essential as long as its built into the Price-
For the OPs location BTM or Birchdown would be the ideal specialists ( circa £500 )

Anyway fully specced R27s used to be easy to find - ive had loads-

Really, I've found the opposite when dealing with dealers. They (both I've dealt with) told me that their customers like NI registrations as they don't give away the age of the car.

@Gam the one I mean is, where it says like. X amount of LY's came with xenons, but no CC. X amount of LY with xenons and CC.

if you catch my drift.
