Flat Battery

Long story short my car wouldn't start Wednesday morning it was completely out of the blue as all was fine the previous evening, no lights left on or anything like that but yet it was as dead as a dodo.

Jump started after work today after 5 mins or so with the leads connected, I then let it sit there running for 15/20 mins before going for a little run.

While out then driving had all this appear on the dash?

Before I had chance to pull over the steering locked!! (Almost shit myself :/) thankfully it only locked for a split second or so and then disengaged, I was then able to get back home without further drama.

I switched the car off when back on our drive and then tried to turn it straight back on, but nothing flat as a pancake again?
Any ideas?? Apart from the obvious being a dead battery.

get a new battery..if flat there will be all sorts of faults and lights coming on..

Google this ! The list of faux-symptoms with a less than perfect battery on a 197/200 is nearly endless. Make's the odd flashing light in my old MK3 Escort look like 'nothing to worry about'.....

I'm also lead to believe - a new battery will literally re-energise the car; and they are meant to perform noticeably better after having a new battery fitted [And i'd be really interested to hear opinions / thoughts / experiences on this ?]

If that isn't incentive enough - i dont know what is !

Pretty scary that it locked the steering, I've not heard of that happening either, although the Xmas lights dash is a common one
