Fast Road/Track Ultra Red 197

I don't know if some of the images show a red X for you guys as well but reloading the thread seems to restore the pictures for me.

Got a replacement for the broken linkage, the wipers are still playing up though,i think i will replace the stalk next:

Fixed the broken bolt with a rivnut:

I had a weird misfire only in the upper gears and lower rpms,if you'd floor it it would be fine, also no engine light was showing,I decided to change all the coilpacks and got some Deplhi ones off ebay and that fixed it,i also put some new plugs just in case since i was there,it already had NGK Platinum that were recent from the service history so just kept the old ones as spares:

Also changed the last mount to Vibra Technics.was a bit confused as to where all the spacers went but I think I got it right now, there is a spacer at the bottom and that allows the top spacer to fit in a slot, all torqued to 60nm.

I have made a template in aluminium so hopefully should direct most of the air that comes trough the grill, trough the slam panel and to the airbox, not sure what to do on the other side though,as the airbox sits very close and its a bit tricky so need to think about it.

Definitely feels better than original but I think I will wait until I have some cams in it for a remap,do everything at once.

When I spoke to andy at engine dynamics he suggested it’s best to just direct cold air at these rather than try to pipe directly into them.

Apparently he’s seen intake pipes get crushed because they couldn’t get enough air in :grimacing:

Unless there is a massive kink in the hose I dont see that happening lol,it's not like our engine ingest massive amounts of air i wouldn't have thought.

Why not considering to extend the air scope feed in to the air box?

Yeah that might be an idea.

@VeiRoNv2 really enjoyed just reading through your thread.

When you did the rear tow eye was it just a matter of removing or lowering the diffuser and cutting to suit the towing eye?
Thank you,appreciate it.
Yes I removed the bumper and diffuser and then marked where the towing eye would sit before drilling,I did weld an M12 connector to the original towing threaded part, same as the front,so i could get the right length, unfortunately Renault never put an access cover like the front to take off,no idea why.

Thanks for the info @VeiRoNv2 . :thumb:
I need to fit towing eyes on mine ~ like you said the front is easy but the rear a little more troublesome with no access panel.

I'm going to see if lowering the rear diffuser gives me enough of a view to see where I need to Dremel a little circle.

In the end I have just extended the duct, not pretty but will direct most of the air to the airbox for maxiumum gains lol.

I also replaced the paper filter with a Pipercross one:

Comparison with the original airbox size:

Also removed the last two brackets on the boot floor, quite good weight loss of almost 1kg for just two pieces of metal:

Got myself a christmas present lol,the ZPO shifter looks cool but I dont think it's worth the 850£ they ask to be honest.I still need to do some adjustement as having trouble with 3rd gear if the shifter is not dead centre:

I also took advantage of the black Friday discounts and got Powerflex for the rear beam and front arms,I got the front bush with 0.6 of caster adjustement and the middle bush with -1.5 of camber, bought two used genuine arms that i started to strip down ready for the new bushes and balljoints:

At the moment i have just fitted the rear beam black Powerflex bushes,I found the best way to get the old ones out is to cut the larger diameter of the bush so i can fit the receiver cup onto the beam and then knock the middle section out so I can use the press tool:

Yeah nothing is cheap these days. But I really like mine.

I know they’re popular amongst Clio owners

I don't quite get the ZPO hype. I used to run a Coolerworx in my old R53 and it was quite cool for what it was; but it was a lot cheaper than a ZPO.
Likewise. I don’t get any of the shifter hype as a whole tbh.

They look good on pictures, but are dreadful at changing gear :tearsofjoy:

It is in better position than the OEM shifter as it is closer to the steering wheel.

It might be a matter of personal preference but I think that the ZPO gives you the feeling of a shorter and more satisfying shift.
