You generally get a lift of about 10-20bhp with cams and a good remap but £50 sounds rather cheap for fitting even if they are being done at the same time as the belts? Plus the cams themselves aren't exactly a cheap part, CAT CAMS from K-Tec for example are almost £800. By time you add in the cost of a decent remap and other little bits your talking well over a grand.

thought you were doing a turbo conversion Kaz..seems like a waste of money to go for cams...they are quite expensive and as others said-you will not see a great deal of power increase..
If look on my build thread there's and before and after of fitting 402's. If ran out mods too do and getting the belts done then yeh drop some in. Yes gains aren't massive but problem is people just look at "peak" figures
if just go get standard car mapped you'll hit 210bhp at ktec anyway , eh rich ha
Same here. But the EP3 is ugly as hell and the FN2 is only a 4 seater. Why can't these be as tuneable in a N/A state?!Tyre R is so much more tunable. In hindsight I would been better in a type r than the Clio.
It's a shame these don't respond that well to breathing modifications, I know N/A tuning your fighting an up hill struggle but there just doesn't seem to be much more to give on the Clios. My old Type R responded really well to breathing mods and a custom ECU with remap. Ran a respectable 243bhp with power and torque up right across the rev range. No cams needed. Just a manifold back system, inlet manifold from the JDM model, ITG intake and a KPRO ECU with mapping.
Just seems pointless to be adding cams to the Clio if you don't get much from them, they aren't exactly cheap! I bet getting a Meg conversion done wouldn't be much more expensive and you'd have a massively faster car. If your tuning for power it's deffo the way to go!

No cams needed because K20 stock cams on vtec are 316/315 degree! 402's which are an upgraded cam for the F4R are only 268/263.
I did have a whole paragraph written defending the F4R but deleted it.....Honda engine is just much better!!
It has a bigger bore, shorter stroke, better rod/stroke ratio (less rod angle), solid tappets, better rocker geometry, bigger valves!
All of these things are needed to sustain the breathing at high revs to make the power. It's a 15-20k engine to do that in a F4R.
You and me both!! So I took great personal pleasure in blowing an FN2 away the other day..........(however no one mention the money I've spent to do that!!!)
