cambelt

I own a 56 plate 197 so its almost 5 years old now do I really need to change the cambelt when the car has only done 22k?

mines due this year and only done or will have done around 24k.....but its still getting done! :bat:

this is the problem with 197's coming down to more affordable prices. you get owners who aren't as disciplined as perhaps they should be.
 
I've heard the old mileage excuse when I was looking at 182s, if it's part of the service schedule then it's there for a reason as it's possible for certain things to perish just over time and not necessarily due to the mileage on a car.

If you don't do it you're just running the risk of needing a new engine at some point.
 
I think belts are actually more likely to fail due to age than mileage. The rubber breaks down over time
 
Should be able to get it done for £400-500 from a specialist, that's not a bad price form the dealer though to be honest.

Don't let Joe Random do it from the local garage. Dealer or specialist is the ONLY way to go.

Mine's just turned over 36K and is an '07. Ignore the mileage if it's low, do it off the age.
 
mine will be done the end of the summer 50,000 4 n half yrs old
aux belt also
