TB update

little update guys

got the center box removed a few weeks ago (love the sound!) there is a slight flat spot but its no where near where you would be driving at and its livable tbh i dont know what every one is complaining about haha

also iv just fitted a 64mm TB bought one off ebay from a guy called Gav( ebay id is sneakapeak99 for any one that wants to look him up he quoted me £60 to do the same to my stranded TB) the car feels so much better now and it really just feels like a new car. the throttle is so much sharper now and you can really feel the diffidence the best £110 i have ever spent! AND it cures the flat spot problem dead its just not there any more ;D

new TB

im booked in to get the secondary cat taken out on friday so ill get a video up once its done and im going to get on the rollers at the weekend hopefully to get a power reading

I bought it on thursday/Friday last week and I got it today so not bad at all, it was first class recorded as well

decat was done to day, and my god! what a note it has now!

id say the "flat spot" is no bigger of worse that it was after i fitted the 64mm TB if anything its a bit less ( less noticeable IMO) a bit less torque mid range but it pulls a bit better hi end but the dyno run will tell the truth

i have also bought a second hand intake manifold plenum and TB that are all currently being P&P and matched the TB will be going out to about 68mm and will be matched to the intake on the manifold, ill keep updated with the results

Gav is the same Gav who did the original group buy for us, top bloke.

68mm?

Is that possible?

No, not possible on the standard TB.

It's pretty much at its limit at 64mm, much more than that and the walls become too thin and you risk damaging the moving parts which could lead to bits of spindle making their way into the Inlet and in turn into the engine... To go bigger than 64mm you'd need a different TB with the same sensor, you could always fabricate a plate to fit between the TB and Inlet to match the bolt holes up (done this before on a FIAT). Jenvey sell 66mm for the Clio but you'd have to convert to cable throttle to run one of their units which would also mean an ECU swap.

There used to be a car around Stockton on Tees like that one! It had a private plate on and had the carbon roof, spoiler and rear quarter stickers too! Not seen it for a while mind!

That could possibly be the same car haha I picked it up from just west of york

The machine shop said it should be possible to bore it out to 68mm that should still give you a 1mm wall thickness they seem to think it would be sufficient will see soon tho. I should have the parts back end of this week coming so I'll keep you up to date

Rather you than me mate!!!

Gav who did all of the others wasn't convinced about taking it any bigger because of where the moving parts sit.

small but interesting update

been rather slack at my work the past week and a bit so i decided id make my self a few strut braces  save me the money haha

went about measuring the boot and iv made a rear strut brace( top to top suspension towers) 9CE1636C-6008-49FB-909A-45DFB58933A7-519-00000024E52FD8F2.jpg
