Number Plates

Hi dudes and dudettes

Thinking of gettting some new plates for the 200, so I'm looking for peoples opinions please.

If you you had to pick one which would It be???

1 2 3 or 4.

Pretty sure 4 would not be legal to have on display 24/7 (please correct me if not the case) but I thought I'd throw it in the mix anyway.

Re metal plates:
Not sure about UK mainland but mine passed its MOT last year (with metal plates on) here in N Ireland with no issues..........They look the business especially with the Scottish Rampant Lion Logo on them :thumb::grinning::kilt:

Didn’t think metal plates were legal over here??
My Merc was supplied by a Merc dealer with metal plates (ex demonstrator so nearly new) so I imagine they're legal. Mine weren't pressed though. As long as the background is reflective to the required standard & letters of the right size & spacing I would think they'd be fine.

Now that's interesting. I knew you are allowed the saltire on your plates, but didn't know the Lion Rampant was legal.

As I said passed last year thankfully so hopefully ok this time around as well. Good price too only £19 a set off ebay................

£19 a set on ebay and no need to send any info to anyone. just make sure they are the one piece pressed plates

As far as I'm aware they are legal mate?

carbon for me..hope you are happy with whatever you go for :french:
Think it's between the gel resin or pressed metal ones??
Number 4 for me, Love the black ones here, but yeah completely illegal lol!
Same here, might get some and see how long it is until PC Plod pulls me over

Pressed are nice but don’t like the line, I have the black gel, they do look well, as long as they have a standards make it will pass mot, mine hasn’t and passed mot in dec but it’s just who you get tbh.

To clear everything up, to be 100% legal they have to have:

Correct font
Correct spacing
Correct colour (no black and silver)
Reflective
BS (British standard) mark
Postcode of producer

The last one is to prove documents have been checked regarding ownership of the vehicle.

Ive always had pressed plates and never had an issue. I want to try some gel plates on my Clio as one of the current bog standard ones is cracked.
