What Oil ?

Its that time for an oil change again, but I want to buy my own rather than use the garages.

Ive always used castrol edge, and can find 5 litres of the stuff delivered for £48

There are obvsiously other oils that are still 4 - 40w....whats the difference really ?

Like the stuff opie Oils have service packs, Motul or Fuchs brands, to which ive not heard of before.

Any recomendations or Ideas as what not to use in the 197 or what to use in fact?

Silkolene is by Fuchs and believe they are fading out the Silkolene name. Seems they are one of the Renault recomendations

My local garage, who I trust as ive used them since I was 17, now 27. They have done all my renault cam belt changes seemlesly etc

They have recommended Morris Lubricants. Anyone else used these guys ? The guy at the grarage uses it in his Escort cosworth seemingly. Also great if you Patriotic as its British

halfords had deal on buy 4 litres of castrol sport edge 0w-40, get litre top up for free, so 5 litres for £40. just done my oil and used that.

Thats a good offer, althought the oil tank is 5.4 litres to fill correctly. Service kits on Opie oils are 6 litres (5L + 1L)

Costco do 4L of Mobil1 0w40 for £19.99+VAT, that is what I use in our cars.

Nothing I guess..... I suppose its preference.; As long as the oil deffinatly meets the requirements set by manufacturer

Just wondered as a lot of people seem to want aftermarket oil,thaught maybe there had been some negative feedback I wasn't aware of
